What kind of a place is this? A friend gets badly injured and we respond by throwing a party that she can't attend?

I'll tell you what kind of place this is, it's a loving and supporting community that I am proud to be a part of :)

That way she could catch glimpses of the event throughout the day

I hope I can make it, I think this is a great thing everyone is organizing. I never met Marie but she sure is lucky to have all your support. Godspeed on her recovery!

If thats not possible maybe a corner in the Hidden Village set up for people to leave a get well video message for her, she definitely has to witness footage of the event!

The Hula Girls were asked to play and unfortunately I'm going to be in Mexico during this concert. :( If anyone decides to set up another date to go along with this one, I would be more than happy to bring the band out. It's a super bummer that we can't play for Marie. Get well soon, Marie!

Has anyone determined how the silent auction will work - specifically for people who can't attend the event in person?

There are issues regarding bids that should be addressed before the day of the actual event on the 30th.

For example: I just can't attend the event in person, but I want to place a bid on Jason's velvet painting. If I pledge a bid of $200 - will my bid be noted correctly and in a timely manner? When is the deadline for bids both proxy and live?

Some organized person needs to be on top of all this activity.

I resemble that remark! :P Normally at a silent auction at a benefit the bidders are there...I suppose if you have someone you trust you could have them be your "proxy" as long as they can cover the bid if they win it for you. We will have the auction items up for viewing/bidding throughout the day and will call it around 8pm. PM me with any more questions or comments. Mahalo!!!

I know that the Ghastly Ones and The Dynotones want to donate merch.
Matt Reese and Dave(sleestack) from SD said they would donate some art.
The Martini Kings will be donating a bunch of CDs.
and Insect Dave said he would donate some Insect poster art, and some cds.

Just what is a "Palooza"????

Urban Definition:

1. The art of throwing a very drunken extravagant party with a plethora of friends. Whoever is throwing the palooza usually adds their name as a prefix to the word. Paloozas are usually held on Wednesday.
2. An all-out crazy party; partying at one place with a ton of people like there's no tomorrow.
3. A party that usually lasts for the whole night. And non stop fun.
4. A wild crazed out mutha f##kin party that no one will forget.

Other Accepted Definitions:

1. A suffix for an event that is usually big and has a lot of people, pretty much a giant party.
2. Short answer: It is taken from "lollapalooza" (also various other phonetic spellings) and means "humdinger".
   3 The "American Heritage Dictionary" says a lollapalooza is: "something outstanding of its kind", but after the Lollapalooza Tour, it's usually used as a suffix to indicate an extravaganza of some sort.
