Hey Ken....
I was leaning more toward a rusty tin roof this go around.
I had a palm thatch roof on it but, it only last about 3 years here,
we have pretty harsh winters here in kansas.
I may do tin and check on some artificial thatch to lay over it for the tropical look.
Yep....when finished it will be a nice paradise to hang out!!
I'm having a ton o fun doing it!!

Here is a pic from 3 years ago.....in the beginning.

What wood did you use on the tiki head? Just getting into carving myself and so far choices in wood is the problem.

The wood is cottonwood.....pretty soft and carves nice.

hmmm.. hadn't thought of cottonwood. that I have. Been trying green sumac wood. sometimes known as the oriental tree of life? more like tree that grows like weeds. Oh well, works so far :)

How do you keep the local birds/racoons/critters from eating all your coi?! We have great blue herons and king fishers that wipe out most pond fish around here, and what THEY don't get the neighborhood cats and random racoons get! Heard about one place that strung fishing line all across it to thwart the buggers - myabe that black plastic netting might work and be not as visible? Nice place by the way!

Yeah people around here also have problems with birds taking their fish...
I have guard dogs that keep watch for me!! :)

Suka...She is Arctic Wolf and German Shepard

Missy....She is a Black Lab

They really keep a good eye on things for me..
And love to watch the fish but never try and eat them!!
They are super well behaved and listen well
Missy loves the water but never gets in the pond!! :)

That sounds too good to be true! Are they from another planet?

Nope....They're from this planet!!
At least that's what they told me! :)

your dogs talk!?!?!?!

how cool!

:)

Oh yes...sometimes they sing too!! :)

Ok....Here is a Survivor Replica Immunity necklace I have been working on...
Finally finished tonight!! :)
I had to improvise a little since I didn't have any Jade...
So I simplified it a bit!!
It is made of Bone, Pine Wood, Hemp rope, and Wire!!
I tried to keep things looking as primitive as possible..
But was kind of hard to do when working with "new" material.
I have some ideas to make another one to try and show some better "age"!!
Here's the pics!!

Sorry for the bad lighting...try to take better pics when sun is shining!!
Thanks for looking...

Till next time!!

Hey MHH! Great work!

We have never missed Survivor, this was a great year for tiki. Your necklace is terrific. Wendy

Great work Hunter! Hey, you can make a passable jade replica with Sculpty clay - has some of the transluscent quality of real jade, pretty strong, and easy to work with. I can give you details if you want or ask the internet for "polymer faux jade".

Zerostreet...Thanks
danlovestikis...Survivor was great for tikis this season!! Thanks so much!!
