I've finally got the software up and running for the Tiki Gallery. I'll be adding lots of tiki stuff in the coming weeks, but if you have mugs, artwork, anything tiki, please help build the gallery! You can upload any pics you have and add descriptions/comments/info on anything in the gallery. Help us build a huge gallery of everything that's out there!! |

I have submitted some shots from my collection, a few of my more "rare" items. The problem is I usually only have single shots of mugs I planned to sell, most of my collection is photographed en masse. Will be getting my own digital camera soon and can take single shots of all my stuff worthy of submission. The database is a great idea. However, it will be bad news for my collecting. Seeing all the mugs out there will lead me to more and more collecting binges. Like that Kelbo's mug. midnite |

NICE! It is so great to, after all these years, still find mugs/items I have NEVER seen before...like that Trader Dick's Rum Barrel, or the Islander skull mug! And the "Best Lei in Hawaii" ashtray! Wowie Zowie! I just wanna shrink down and take a bath in that tray! Can I photograph it somehow for my book? |

Nice collection! I am still a 'novice' collector (80+ different pieces), but I was glad to see many mugs from my own collection pictured. I do have quite a few that I didn't see, but I'll wait until you've got the rest of your collection put up before submitting any pix of mine. :) |

Actually, CC Rider has one that has all the original paint intact. His was the first that I saw and I like it better than mine. Email him about taking a pic of it for your book...otherwise, I'd be glad to offer mine. Glad you all like the gallery...I'm having a ton of fun with it...but I'm just about out of pics to post, so put yours up anytime! |

Great stuff Mike, but it makes collecting so much more difficult when one sees what is still out there to hunt and gather. My list of "must haves" just keeps growing... Hope more folks contribute their photos, or do I? Cheers, |

Great idea for the gallery, Mike! So many things I have not seen and given your impressive collection, I was just glad I could contribute! I got those Kelvin's shakers before I even knew what I was doing! I just thought they were very cool looking and the next thing you know, here they are in the Gallery! I guess that's what it's all about. Many mahalos for your efforts on this! Aloha, Uncle Arty [ Edited by: stentiki on 2002-08-09 14:41 ] [ Edited by: stentiki on 2002-08-09 14:42 ] |

Yep, those Kelvin's S/P are too cool. I am still trying to get the mug. No luck! BTW, I am going to be selling a bunch of mugs (dupes and such) from my collection. Technology willing, having a few PC problems, so if anyone is intersted send me an email. I am going to send out an email offering the stuff to Tiki Centralites first. Anyone will be able to snatch them for my "buy now" or reserve prices before I list them on ebay. Off to Vegas for a few days, if anyone wants a look-see email me at: Michelle |

Do you wish to contribute to the Tiki Gallery, but don't have the "just right" mug to submit? Is your collection not ready for Summer, or prime-time, or even a look-see by the neighbors? Fear not my fellow Tiki Centralites for here's a smorgasbord of highest quality Tiki mugs, ready to make your life that much more enriched. Plus, they are low calorie...and make you better-looking. Ok, the low calorie part is puffery. Shameless promotion: over! ps They dice too. And there's a chance they'll give you those washboard ab's you've been wanting! |

One of these days I'll throw some of my own in. QUESTION: Does anyone know the origin of #6 in Marked Mugs & Bowls? This is Midnite Tiki's Trader Vic find. |

That barrel mug she posted is actually from Trader Dick's, a restaurant/bar in the Nugget Casino in Sparks, Nevada. I've not seen it anywhere else, or even any other versions of it- maybe someone else has? Glad you like the gallery- I'll be adding lots more in the next couple days. |

I just added a bunch of neat stuff to the galleries: many vintage menus from Trader Vic's, the Lanai, Mai Kai, Kona Kai, Kahiki, and more. In the Everything Else Gallery check out the pics from a 1964 magazine article on the Girls of the Mai Kai....they have nice, big....drinks... :) |

If there are any Kahiki-know-it-alls out there do check out the set of S/P shakers I recently posted on the Tiki Gallery. They look a bit different than the commonly seen set made by OMC. I am guessing they were and earlier version used at Kahiki. Just not sure..they're green but a bit more undefined and primitive looking than the usual suspects. Anyone....anyone? One more day of my Tiki mug sale, a few items left. Check it out, 100% of the proceeds go to the "midnite trip to Boston fund"...we need the dues, man. midnite |

Midnite, while I do not think of myself as a "Kahiki-Know-It-All", I am pretty knowledgeable. We all know Hoffman did some of their stuff in the earlier days, but most of those are appropriately marked. Same goes with Sterling China. I'd be curious just to find out. I'll let you know what we find. -C. |

Oh yeah, Retrorick...he may know. I had forgotten about him, have not seen his auctions on ebay for some time now. He may know, yep. I don't think they were made by Hoffman, but I als don't think they are OMC product. Just as I got this pair I see a set on ebay now...my luck! Thanks, appreciate the assistance. |

I just submitted my newst "best" item to the gallery. It's a big drink of water, ha ha, drink of water..get it? I did a pun. http://www.tikiroom.net/gallery/marked/aer Have emailed Mai-Kai about it, and one employee believes he recalls the mug was used at Mai-Kai, but not the drink(s). It is an amazing piece. I got lucky to score this item. |

BBTD, It's ugly as heck, but I still want one. Hmm, how about a trade? I have these very rare (so I am told) Tiki "Leilani" mugs. They are supposed to be the ultra cool mug to collect, saw something on A&E about this. I could even offer you TWO of these rarities. Plus, some Taboo Cove drink stirrers. And this chair, and the cupcake from my lunch. Deal? midnite |

First, thanks to all you guys who've added mugs and stuff to the gallery! There are almost 400 pics now and still growing! Very cool! An addition I added yesterday was a little java pre-slideshow to the opening page: And BBTD- DO NOT sell that Ren Clark mug!! BTW, are you going to be at Martin and Rebecca's party ont the 21st? Maybe you could bring it along for a little show-and-tell? I'd love to actually hold it and see it up close!! |

Hey, I enjoy bringing stuff for people to see- I brought the Kahiki Mystery Bowl to the Palm Springs party for people to see, and I'll bring it next weekend too- 'cause I know at least Michelle wants to see it. If everyone is careful then there's no huge danger. I don't blame you if you'd rather not though- because there is always some level of risk involved.... Lookin' forward to meeting you and everyone else next weekend! |

My latest addition to the gallery: http://www.tikiroom.net/gallery/misc/adq It's the black velvet rendering of the Mai-Kai, as seen in BOT. Not really the Mai-Kai, as Sven has explained, but it is pretty neat. Here is a posting for Gecko! *hey Suga! Here's mine. It's a name plate that use to be on the back of Don The Beachcombers boat called "the beachcomber". If Sven has any idea of what the boat looked like or anything about it would be cool. I know he had a few boats so??? The story is when he sold the boat the guy that bought it had it redone and threw away just about everything except for this?? That's the story that I got from the guy I bought it from. I don't know anything else. I've never seen one of these plates. I placed it in the Tiki Gallery with other Don The Beachcomber items. See the boat name plate here: http://www.tikiroom.net/gallery/search.php?searchstring=Don+The+Beachcomber |
