The wife and I are heading to Sunny Cali in October for a mini-Pacific Coast Highway trip. Starting in San Fran and heading down to San Diego. I was hoping some of you Cali-Tc'rs could help out an East-Coaster with some tips/recommendations... Plan on swinging by: San Fran
Then on to LA (I have never been)
Then on to San Diego (my buddy is getting married on Halloween)
Any major omissions??? Let me know! Thanks, |

Hearn, you left out the Tonga Hut... http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=37157&forum=16&vpost=542396 Poor Tonga Hut always gets overlooked. I think Jeremy needs to buy an advertising banner. :) |

If you are actually going down the coast (or at least Highway 101) a side trip to Morro Bay to check out the Harbor Hut could be in order. The place has (at least when I was last there)some subtle vintage tiki touches and a big tiki outside, BUT it is not a most-see. If you are pressed for time, there are far better places, BUT if you have the time go for it! |

I'd also recommend - if you're stopping by Monterey on the way - lunch at Hula's, especially their fish tacos. For the Bay Area - if the Emeryville Trader Vic's is done with its remodel, that's a great place too. As far as places to stay: In San Luis Obispo, the Madonna Inn has various themed rooms, even some cave-like ones. We stayed in Daisy Mae, which was all rock walls, floors and ceiling. HIGHLY recommended. They also have a very swank pink-boothed restaurant/bar area. Cheers, [ Edited by: rupe33 2010-08-16 05:16 ] |

On Central Coast, I'd recommend Harmony Winery. In SB, go by the SB Surf Museum for their Tiki outside. But, most importantly, visit the Purple Tiki in El Segundo! |

This little place on the Malibu pier has a cool little tiki room that is worth checking out...I stopped by there today on my way back from Oasis and had a mai tai served in a Ku mug... They also have a couple bowls left, some crate mugs and others.. |
