Vintage style netted float lamps for your tiki room or backyard

You can never have enough of these in your tiki room or your back yard...so here yah go .
It's nearly impossible to find original glass float lamps as you well know, with
the advice and feedback from some of the TC O'hana , I have tried to create a
vintage style float lamp with the same look and feel of the originals. 12" netted
glass float ball swag lamp for your tiki room or outdoor tiki ambience. In the
late 40's thru the early 70's these style of glass float lamps adorned the
ceilings of some the most famous tiki establishments known.Kon Tiki Ports,
Trader Vic's, Kelbo's, Don the Beachcomber,The Luau-Beverly Hills and The Islander
are just a small list of tiki establishments that had these hanging from their
ceilings ..... during the golden era of tiki .

These colored glass float balls have 2" hole cut in top with diamond drill bits
.....not an inexpensive proposition but worth it based on the final results.
The inside of the glass ball has been frosted to give the float lamp a glowing
effect and diffuse the light just like the vintage lamps were created. The
interior light fixture is custom made and well thought out with several trick
features to it.The fixture has a weather proof solid brass extension part
which drops the light bulb more towards the center of the the glass globe ,
thus creating an even over all light dispersion when lite.Secondly there is
a spring loaded finger clip which keeps the fixture snug against the inside
glass ceiling , as well as makes for easy light bulb changes .The spring
loaded clips are covered in rubber heat shrink- fitting snug over clips so
they do not chip or crack glass when removing or installing new light bulb.
The top cap is finished in an antique gold paint and completely covers cut
hole in the top of glass.Lamp has eight foot long swag UL approved plug in
cord . Email any questions .Local pick up only....no shipping at this time.
Buyer will pay COD cash upon pick up.

$165 each
Includes custom fixture and special size light bulb with six feet of cord .
Swag kits available up to 13 feet in length ,with or without inline on/off
switch.($7 per foot)top quality heavy duty antique brass chain used for swags.

Derek received alot of feedback from TC Ohana and breaking alot of balls..no pun
intended.I can't take credit for the hole cutting though, I subed that part out
to a local glass shop .The final result came out pretty well .I will eventually
have the inside sand blasted for outdoor use with a porcelin socket at an
additional cost.I can swag them also with antique brass chain up to 18 feet.
Colors:Purple , green ,red, yellow, cobalt blue, aqua blue, and light blue .
These would look great in the awesome tiki room you are building.

I will try and get some much better pics up very soon .
Aloha

Light blue glass

Thank you Nor Cal peeps who picked your lamps up at Tiki Oasis .

I'm still interested in picking up a few of these lights, just need to figure out how to run power.

I shipped for the first time ever to WestADad in Lincoln Nebraska .I carved and made
a Styrofoam capsule to protect the glass float .The glass float is in the square
box you see in pic.It looked like a surfboard shaping room by the time I was done
carving and cutting this up inside my house.I didn't care , I was on a mission
and wanted to make sure it arrived in one piece.I guess it was all worth it ,
I received word from Chris this morning that it arrived safely .
I am sure he will post some pics ,once he has it hung it up .
So stoked one of these will be enjoyed all the way in the mid west .

OH YEAH!! Super job Bill on shipping the float. I'm at work now but I'll get a couple pictures posted here soon.
I've already had co-workers beg me to give them the float, fat chance of that happening!

Mahalos Bill!

Okay I finally got off my lazy duff, tied the new float lamp Bill sent me and took a couple pics. It will look a ton better when it's hanging in my tiki hut next year.

Thanks again Bill and I'm almost ready for you to send me a blue lamp.

Chris

Sweet...looks great Chris .

1

Hey Chris here is a pic of a green float lamp I have in my backyard as well .

Another float lamp shipped to WestADad in Nebraska .I hope it gets there safe .
I am sure he will post some pics when he gets a chance.
Thanks again for another order WestADad .

T

Surf, Are those your glass balls, no net, on Ebay. I so wish companies would sell those with the hole in them.

1

No I don't have any on ebay. The hole is the toughest part about making these!

1

Looks like another going out to Nebraska .Yellow looks so cool when it is next to green
and blue lamps .Yellow is one of my favorite colors of float lamps other then red .

1

Just wanted to take a moment and thank WestADad for his continued support and
purchases from me .I think you will be just as stoked on the yellow float lamp
coming your way .Hopefully you will get this right before turkey day !

Gearing up to make 15 glass float lamps here in the next several weeks.I have most colors
of glass balls in stock.

1

I will most likely be making a road trip to Nor Cal in several weeks .
For those of you that have inquired or in the market for a glass float lamp,
here is your opportunity to save about $ 35-$45 in shipping fees and have one
custom made to order just for you .If I get enough orders , I will haul
them all up and deliver between Sac and Rocklin.Inquire within and PM me.
Most colors available and swag kits are extra .

Cheers -Bill

Great float lamps Bill! Mine are safe in my garage at the moment as the wind has
been pretty strong here lately.

1

add to your two ...don't you !

Yeah...I bought an aqua one so will get it next time Bill heads north. I'm looking forward to that ambiance in the VampTiki Lounge. :)

1

I just shipped two lamps via Greyhound Bus lines to Plano Texas and one to Massachusetts.I am stoked I heard
