Conga's Northwoods Lounge

Welcome to Conga's!
Thought it was finally time to put something over here in the "home" bar region of TC. Things
get appropriately "moody" at nighttime, but here are a few daytime pics of the lounge and
surrounding accomodations.











Perhaps the only tiki lounge with a Cigar Store Indian!

I didn't realize your carvings went into your tiki bar. I like the Indian cigar guy it fits in just perfect. Very nice.

Yes Hiltiki, most of my carvings wind up in the lounge, adding to the
atmoshpere:-)

I have sold a fair number of pieces over the years to supportive
tiki collectors, Kahaka and Queen Amy among them, but all of my
bigger pieces are still right here. This is northern Wisconsin,
after all, and the market here seems to focus on eagles and bears.
Maybe that's why my current project is a bear, a tiki-looking bear
mind you, but still a bear.

love the "rustic" meets tiki look! very inspiring place, conga. You really have done quite a number of carvings, and they all fit so perfectly into your bar!

I noticed the very cool entryway into your bar area - I love how it's not perfectly square and the wood trim is EXCELLENT. May I ask how you did that? did you leave the bark on? and what did you seal it with to keep the insects and whatnot off of it?

Thanks everyone for all of the nice comments. I know that the
light wood walls may give it a bit of a "margaritaville" look,
but that is definitely not the vibe that's going on:-)
I'll get a few "lounge-time" pics up over the weekend to give
you a better idea of the atmosphere.

Polynesiac...thanks for commenting on the doorway. I get a lot
of carving wood from a local lumber yard and the owner told me
I could take any scraps that I wanted. He was making some "beams"
and had a pile of thin pieces with the bark still attached. We just
used those pieces to frame the doorway.

I haven't noticed a bug issue related to the bark pieces. The
lounge is actually part of my garage which is not attached to
my house. Since it's not "sealed up" like a house I do get a
few creepy crawlies that get in there but they like the music
and don't drink too much so I co-exist with them:-)

Anything new going on over there?
