In a far corner of France, in the small town of Tarascon-sur-Ariège, not far from the Andorran border, deep in the Pyrénées this lonely Moai awaits to surprise travellers.

Larry Storch - an extraordinary talent. He's right up there with Charles Nelson Reilly and George "Goober" Lindsey. |

Hey, looking at the pic again...is there a face (eyes, nose, mouth you know the parts) on the "little tiki" or has my fermented cane juice addled brain gone completely 'round the Moai pole? |

I was leaning towards Larry Storch until the Abe Vigoda ringer showed up! Look at that mouth! It's identical! Classic! |

The one in Christchurch is carved from Oamaru limestone and is just outside the pub where we celebrated after our exhibition opening the other week. It's a pretty decent size and quite a nice rendering - I was going to photograph it when I was there again last weekend, but I forgot to take my camera downtown. I will try and get a pic next time I'm over there (which will be soon). |
