Been digging Blue Hawaiian's "Christmas on the Big Island" and Don Tiki's "Hot Lava Holiday Songs." Anything else I should be looking at with the holiday theme, slinky lounge beat and Gretschy twang?

Swear to gosh, I'm gonna make a Christmas album one year that sounds like Duane Eddy jamming with Santo Farina and Martin Denny's rhythm section!

dig the new emmett hadleys xmas cd(a.k.a. martini kings).... if you dare! ha!
available at martinikings.com

I'll throw our hat in the ring: we recorded Tchaikovsky's Arab Dance from the Nutcracker on our 2011 release, Third River Rangoon

http://orchestrotica.com/album2

...complete with...oud solo (to fix the song since there is basically nothing arab about Pyotr T's version!)

best,
Mr. HO

We recorded White Christmas with my band, Ìxtahuele, last year... You can check it out here:

For those who may enjoy it, we've added some vintage Hawaiian Christmas selections from the LP collection into the mix on "Hawaiian Hi-Fi" on Live365.com. Holiday tunes from Don Ho, The Surfers, Arthur Lyman, some local lounge acts and various steel guitar groups, in addition to a few Japanese, Filipino & Chamorro (Guam Island) Christmas ditties for that real vintage "island holiday feeling."
I'm also excited to include a few selections from this VERY rare LP recording of a long-forgotten pseudo-Hawaiian instrument..the Ukelin. They used to be sold primarily door-to-door is the early part of the last century as an "easy to learn at home" combination Hawaiian guitar, ukulele, violin. (According to all reports, it wasn't really all that easy to learn, and had a fairly short lived run...but a few of the old instruments were still out there.)

And for the truly off-beat...how about a selection from a Hawaiian Christmas record recorded in Sweden??

Mele Kalikimaka from "Hawaiian Hi-Fi!"

had to look the Ukelin up.......lots of controversy surrounding this instrument...

In Sweden, this tune is very associated with Christmas. Hope you enjoy!

Not what Tele295 was originally after, but I've been enjoying this one:

Hawaiian Christmas - Noelani and The Leo Nahenahe Singers
Christmas classics & originals in Hawaiian & English, recorded in 1965. There are clips/CDs on Amazon

And, for a Christmasy Surf break:
Have Yourself A 'Vara' Merry Christmas! - The Vara-tones

This band the Hiram Olsen Trio played outside of our hotel in Hawaii when we
were they many years ago. 15?
But they were selling a cd of Christmas music and it is very good.
Don't know how you would get one now, it was called Mele Kalikimaka.
Good luck.

Not tiki but Die Rotten Rosen Awesome xmas cd.
