I am going to Baltimore in April for a few days and was wondering if there was any cool tiki bar spot where I could get some painkillers or a Mai Tai? I've found the Tiki Barge but it doesn't open until Memorial Day, so I'm SOL there. Any advice would be awesome! |

RyanTheTerrible- Woody's Rum Bar Fairly small rum bar above a popular Irish Pub in Fells Point. Has a nice view of the Fells Point Pier and only serves drinks. http://www.woodysrumbar.com/ Their Ti Punch with Rhum J.M might be ok Here're some Pubs he also recommended for some local color: Heavy Seas Brewery is a local brewery, obviously with a nautical theme, that does tours on weekends (located south of the city). They also have a tavern in the city (not overly themed) with their beer and raw bar as well. http://www.hsbeer.com/ Tiki Barge- just be glad it's not open for the season (unless you're into the "beach bar party" style.) Good luck and let us know if you end up finding any place worthy out there in April! |

It's a sad, but true, fact that Baltimore, which is ironically considered the Kitsch capital of the US, is, in fact, devoid of any real Tiki bars, which is very sad for a Tiki enthusiast who craves some fellow Tiki friends to share an umbrella-laden libation with. Woody's Rum Bar is about as close as you're going to get. Now, if you want to travel a little bit away from the city (about 20 mins east) there's a place called Sunset Cove, in Bowleys Quarters, is a good attempt at a Tiki bar. With sand, bamboo, and tropical drinks. They even have live bands in the summer months. Worth a look-see if you're in the area. There's also Tiki Bar Solomons, in Solomons Island, MD (about an hour south of Bmore), that has the right Idea. Maybe one day I'll make my backyard Tiki bar public...lord knows we're starving for some good Tiki cocktails around here! |

A little late, but Mutiny Pirate Bar in Glen Burnie has a few Tiki drinks on the menu. There is clearly someone there who is an enthusiast, but I don't think there is much of a market for it. Pretty healthy rum selection though, probably over 100. |
