sweet. doesnt get any deeper than that!

Very cool!! I enjoyed reading thru this thread. I really like your carving style,

EJ

Welcome back my friend! Welcome back!

Nice touch with the paint. Even Tiki art evolves I guess. Cy, Laz and a few others are brightening up our world.
What ever happened to McTiki? I really liked his painted panels...

Looks like you guys may be heading for some tropical weather. Batten down!!!

I try to avoid painting when I can. Not a huge fan. This customer wanted green so I hit it with some green stain and distressed it a bit to give it some more character. I wound up having to make the color more uniform ultimately per customer request. All in all it was a fun piece even though I almost killed myself making it.

These guys left for their new homes today...

Little more work to do on this 5footer:

OMG! They are too much fun. I love the guy on the right in the top pic. He's too sweet. I wish he was coming to my home :)

Good picture,
looks like he's 30 ft tall.
They should make telephone poles look like that.

I particularly like that 5-footer. That’s a standout to me.
I like Will's idea...wouldn't THAT be cool?

The one with green backdrop is creepy. I like it!!! :)

Thanks Amate. I love that green guy too. I've been on carving overdrive lately. A few fails, a few successes. I feel like I'm learning a lot though. Here is some more:

Here's my first shot at some trad Ku designs. (lots of room to improve):

New Moai design. I took a Moai I hated and reworked it:

Haven't done pendants in years. Not easy.

Love it! Is the color a filter on the photo or how it really looks? If the latter, how'd ya do it?

Keep up the great work!

Thanks DH. No filter. I hit this guy with a tiny bit of blue stain. I really like the way it turned out.

Marq mask. 18"

Is the shrunken head carved in wood or made of some other material? Nice carves.

Thanks T. Good seeing you tonight!

Amate- the shrunken head was fired clay. Painted and added horse hair. Thanks for the nice words. I got to bask in your many lei low pieces tonight. Always fun to see your work.
