I haven't posted here for few weeks, but hopefully you've figured out that a new episode of Ports of Paradise is broadcast every week and you can access the audio archive anytime from my program page http://pbsfm.org.au/portsofparadise

During this week's broadcast we (kind of) travelled to Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Persia, the Cape Verde Islands, Paris and Hindustan ... and returned to Melbourne in time for a bowl of cherries :P

Friday's episode included a fascinating interview with Joe Sehee, who performed with the exotica pioneer Korla Pandit in LA during the 1990s and came to know him very well.

Oh man, that Ferrante & Teicher rendition of La Cucaracha had me rolling. I've always enjoyed their work, but until recently I had no idea just how experimental they got!

It's amazing they could get those sounds from two (unmodified) grand pianos!
