And to not only make this a Mauna Loa thread, but as Zeta suggested, a worldwide (x-ept America and Polynesia) Tiki thread, here two shots I recently received from a German journalist, from his family album. There is an amusement park near Cologne called Fantasialand. I myself shot an action movie there in the mid-90s, and remember noticing some carved railing posts that smelled like Tiki to me -but nothing else. Turns out they used to have a full fledged South Seas attraction with Hawaiian restaurant that all disappeared in the 80s: Funny how the Tiki looks Milan Guanko-style, they must have copied it from an American theme park |

Wow! Great stuff. All I have to add at the moment is my Mauna Loa swizzle. |

Here is an entry from the Aku Tiki Restaurant in Acapulco. This is the one with the album cover shot that Sabu posted. This is a great little menu shaped like a tiki. The cover Inside the cover. Sampling of the menu. The back - signed by the visitor.

I just remembered I had an old image from the Mauna Loa in Mexico that I had grabed from an ebay sale a long time ago. Check out this great interior shot. DC |

I totally agree here, is this not as spectacular (on the outside at least) as the Tiki room at Disneyland. |

Found this article recently in the Guardian about the Kon Tiki Village near St. Tropez in the South of France, I've been meaning to visit here for a few years now but never got the time. |

Very nice. I like the pealing paint, what an artifact. Look who I came across in Paris!: Unfortunately, he is not quite as big as the original :D : ...and he is missing the X across the chest that the Mauna Loa version sports. |
