I was reading a Rogue (the Happening Magazine for Today's Young Man) from 1967, when I ran across this recipe from Frances Langford's Outrigger Restaurant in Florida:

The Outrigger Special
3 oz. orange juice
1 oz. Falernum
2 oz. passion fruit (I assume they mean juice not syrup)
1 oz. lime juice
3 oz. Demarara rum
2 oz. dark Puerto Rican rum
Blend and serve in 16oz. Hurricane glass. Garnish with orange slices, red and green cherry, sprig of mint.

Today's young man enjoyed a strong beverage!

Thanks for sharing! I tried one last night, using Passion Fruit juice and blending it with 8 oz of ice. The taste was good, but it seemed a little flat, lacking in body (as is the case with many drinks that have a lot of OJ). I am tempted to suggest passion fruit syrup instead of juice but I think that might make it too sweet.

This drink might be better if it's not blended with the ice but shaken with cubes. Next time I try it I might also switch out grapefruit for the orange, add a little more lime, and use the PF syrup. Different drink, but it should be good.
