Jake in Daytona July 21st

8pm - Bank and Blues Club - Daytona

Putting a caravan together to head to Daytona for Jake Shimabukuro.

My 7 seater tiki bus so far has 3 people in it.

We'll probably stay at the Hawaiian Inn on that Thursday night.

Not of this earth.

What a talent. Not just a great player - a great musician. And very approachable.

Plays a baritone Kamaka that he tunes in the same style as soprano. Fishman pickup - not active (a bit thumpy).

His CDs do not approach the level of intensity he plays at. (I just ended a sentence with a preposition. Ona Koka will tremble with rage.)

He was super sincere and we got a chance to chat with him after the show.

He said he used to play in a Hawai'ian band all the time but wanted to branch out - and boy did he branch out.
