Not of this earth.

What a talent. Not just a great player - a great musician. And very approachable.

Plays a baritone Kamaka that he tunes in the same style as soprano. Fishman pickup - not active (a bit thumpy).

His CDs do not approach the level of intensity he plays at. (I just ended a sentence with a preposition. Ona Koka will tremble with rage.)

He was super sincere and we got a chance to chat with him after the show.

He said he used to play in a Hawai'ian band all the time but wanted to branch out - and boy did he branch out.
Here's a list of a few of the songs he played beside his originals:

Stars and Stripes Forever
Ava Maria
Spain
Sakura
While My Guitar Gently Weeps

And a song about surfing called Cross-current.

And every other style you can imagine.

If you have a chance to see this kid then do so before he mellows out. If that's possible.

P.S. The Atlantic Ocean is awesome.
The gulf sucks in the summer.
