I found this interesting website, that lists surviving restaurants from post-WW2 L.A. There are some of our favorite Tiki joints, like the Bahooka and Sam's Seafood. There are also some googie places listed. |

Cool site. Some other (non-tiki) joints listed I love are: Coach & Horses, Frolic Room, Joe Jost's, Barney's Beanery, Canter's & El Coyote. |

You forgot Musso and Frank Grill. Everyone should visit there at least once. Just go to the bar and ask for Ruben...and make sure you pm me whenever you decide to go! |

One place on the site (check out the pictures) that seems to be a "sleeper" is the Tonga Hut in North Hollywood. I don't believe it is mentioned in the Book of Tiki or the Tiki Road Trip. It's not in one of the better neighborhoods and it's a bit worn around the edges, but still well worth a visit (at least in the daytime!). |
