And Lastly, but most importanly, the Neon Museum is soliciting donations so they can make their matching funds and any little bit will help. Every dollar donated is worth double due to the matching funds.
There is a pay pal link on the website.

Horrors! La Concha is my favorite mid-century masterpiece.

Inkylouise is being interviewed today for a CBS? ABC? NBC? news station about the fight to save La Concha.

I remember seeing this hotel on one of my last trips to Vegas. Musta been 1995. I was staying at the Circus Circus with my ex-girlfriend and some other friends we met up there. One of them said, 'look how cool that place is, we should stay there next time'. Anyway, when I saw the title to this thread I knew exactly what you were talking about. I hope this place doesn't meet the wrecking ball. I'm getting a little tired of seeing these really cool mid-century buildings biting the dust. As if these new ones they put up are cooler. NOT! I can just see how these developers look down their noses at something like La Concha as passe' and envision their new ridiculous looking oppressive glass boxes as being 'cutting edge'.

hooray!! la concha is saved!! in todays tribune is an article describing how the la concha will be spared the wrecking ball by being dimantled into 6 sections and trucked across town to be reassembled for the neon sign museum...it will be a focal point for tourists and residents in it's new location.....thanks to all for their help in saving this relic of vegas past!!
