Sanders

I can't seem to find any info on recommended sanders for the "average" large Tiki. ........And I sure do admire some of the clean and lovely work that I've seen on this forum.
Can Anyone guide me to a good sander, and perhaps a "how to" on sanding large wood sculptures so that they can be "fit to be Gods"?

I'd recommend an angle grinder. There is a sanding disk attachment you can purchase where ever you can buy angle grinders. It costs about $10. The sanding disks are about $1.50 each but last a long time. 24 grit can take a lot of wood off in a hurry (I use this for sculpting and shaping) and 80 grit leaves a pretty smooth finish that can easily be hand finished, or even left as is depending on your tastes.

If you plan on doing a lot, spend the little extra money and invest in a good angle grinder. Also make sure your extension cord is rated heavy enough. I've burnt an angler grinder up from too heavy use with too small a cord. In the long run the few extra dollars will pay for themselves.

Post your pictures.

Hello, Hellotiki, Have you looked in the "Tools carvers use" Post? There are some different sanders posted in there along with just about ALL the tools the local carvers use. Check it out:

I also use a grinder and have been wanting to get one of these like Aaron has. http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=14254&forum=7&vpost=188479
