Trader Vic Skull Mugs

Pages: 1 3 replies

I have acquired tow different TV skull mugs and have a question.
They both have the more sinister jutting sharper jaw and have the official made for seal in a circle but one is an eggshell white and the other is a more sandy color. Any info on what these differences mean and what periods these come from would be appreciated. They both checked out against the detail of the original patent drawings someone posted a while back too.

Don't think so much! Fill 'em with Krimpets and Suck 'em up!

Hey Rugby Matt!

Here's an earlier post (FABulously filled-in by Modmana).

I don't think anyone's broached the eggshell vs white subject before. The main issue is sharp detail (early mold) vs globby (later). If you have nice crisp veins, etc., you got a goody.

Formikahini, Mahalo for that TC link.

Luckily it seems I have the picks of the litter on skull mugs as both of my TV mugs are the ones with good detail and the Red Wing/ TV manufacterers mark. I also have the Hawaii Kai type with the square jaw/flat face, one has the Hawaii Kai on the forhead and the other has it underneath. Plus I have the little one from the Kahiki.
