Some more of my dust catching tikis on the block, their "the good, the bad, the ugly and tiny" of the souvenir tiki world..

The Tiny(its only two or three cuts with a knife away from being a stick)

The ugly(a hacked wood style Ku)

The Bad(unimaginative Maori carving)

The good(nice Maori carving with almost as much detail as a resin cast, they must have spent at least 30 minutes in making this one)

True, Poly-pop is not a real representation of Polynesian culture but rather a reflection of our society responding to the Polynesian culture. The iconography of poly-pop reflects the symbology of our culture, we feel drawn to drinking from head shaped mugs because we are playing at being "headhunters" but we are not drinking from a head to acquire the mana of the deceased, as the in the "headhunters" culture. Rather we drink from the head because of the symbology of the severed head in our culture.
