Tiki in Indianapolis?

Does anyone know of anything of interest in the Indianapolis area, as I am headed there tonight for a long holiday with the in-laws and would love an excuse to get out of the house?

I'm not sure of anything Tiki. Swanky and I were there for a Rockabilly Weekender this year and looked around a bit for that.

There is a very interesting area in Indy around the Fountain Square Theatre built in 1928. The theatre itself was just renovated and the diner attached is in emaculate condition as well. Go to the original 50's side, not the new frills diner beside. This entire area has great restaurants of all different types of cuisine, and the best part! - One of the best antique shops I've ever had the pleasure of visiting!

That area is great for spotting 50's ranch style homes and architecture.

Hope this helps!

I drove by this place back in May. It is on the main tourist strip in Indy. Lots of bars in the vicinity.

Looked like a cheezy dance club from the outside, but I couldn't persuade the person driving to pull over so we could check it out... pleas of investigative journalism fell on deaf ears.

I'm checking for Tiki places in Indy since I'm going there & Chicago (actually Kankakee, but we're flying into Midway so we can stop in @ Duke's for 2 beef, 1 wet, sweet & hot, 1 red) the 1st weekend in December.

I checked out the Tiki Bob's website, and not only did they misspell "Tiki" 2ce, but they have "$1 Pucker shots" on Wednesdays. Damn! I'm avoiding it like the plague.

I guess I'll have to make do with Lotus Garden in Greenwood, 49 Mercator Dr, Greenwood, IN 46143. At least we can get egg rolls & Rum Cows. I'll take some pictures & post'em later.

Has anything change on the Indianapolis front or am I also headed down to Lotus Garden for 1-9 cocktails?

I am not sure why there is such a wealth of mint mid century furniture in Indianapolis on the shopgoodwill.com website, but they've been posting new pieces constantly for 2-3 months. It's pick up only, except for the color wheel, or else I'd be buying all of it.

Do yourself a favor and Skip Tiki Bobs. It's a total cheeseball, bad loud music meat market for 20 year olds.
