Natural or carved tiki?

Hi all,
I photographed the old Trade Winds site the other day and spotted this odd pole on top of the old telephone fence that still surrounds part of the rv lot that is there now. It looks like it has two eyes and was once carved but I am not sure. What do you carvers think, is it natural decay or was it once carved? I will try to revisit to get another shot in better light in the meantime here it is.

What mkes you think it is, IS a Tiki??

Richard Ellis carved about 30 tikis on this site for the Trade Winds in 1964. This fence once surrounded the Trade Winds so I thought it might be one of his carvings on top of one of the poles. The tiki he carved below was about 30 feet from the fence.
