I'd be interested in any NYC activity!

... I just finished reading the rest of the thread. I'd be interested in going to any Wildwood event. I live in NYC, and I'd probably rent a car or something to get there.

One more vote for Wildwood.

I am very interesting in helping to get something going in Wildwood. This is not to say that I wouldnt support an event in another location, I am up for any east coast event, its just that Wildwood is closer and easier for me to get to for purposes of helping out. To answer a Q, the Doo Wop museum closed its old location and is opening up again soon in a new building by the convention center and boardwalk. They will showcase some neon from old defunct motels, so I hear. While I was in Wildwood this past summer I got to meet and chat with the owners of the Pink Champagne motel and they are the NICEST people and totally into the whole Doo Wop/50s thing and they are really into their vintage motel and they just LOVE people who "get it." They told me that many of the vintage motel owners are banding together now more than ever to save the old historic vibe and to preserve the cool motels. I was thrilled to hear this. There are TONS of ugly new expensive condos where old motels used to be, but many are empty. I was secretly pleased. One more thing, for any event, Wildwood is family friendly so people can bring their kids, and this factor may attract event attendees.

Nuthin' better than New York in the summertime. I'd be there.

The Wildwood idea would be absolutely wicked - I wondered "what if" about Jersey as a possible sight for a tiki event a couple years ago and to see if come to fruition would be the coolest!
