We want to tour the west...

We've been talking about it for a couple of months. Crazed Mugs and Haole Kats wreaking havoc on Pacific ears.
Maybe swinging out there and starting in Seattle, drop down to Portland, SF, Santa Cruz, LA, San Diego - maybe to coincide with Oasis. A couple of new CDs to throw around.

I'm just gauging interest while things are in the planning stages.

Even though people are each important and engaging, and it would be cool for us to play for a small group in each town, it would be difficult to explain to our wives how it cost us thousands of dollars to "tour."

We're not expecting hoards of adoring fans... although I have made quite an impression in Santa Cruz... that's what the cops told me anyway... but we would need expenses met and to come home with something tangible even if it's mugs and tattoos. Or a tattoo of a mug. Well, maybe some cash, too.

One thing is for certain, Forbidden Island and I have a date this year even if it's me playing to martiki for 2 hours.
I gotta try a double bill in Oakland with ukebox of Old Puppy once I make it out there. He's the best.
Plus, King Kukulele and I have been discussing a tribute set we can do together.

Add those Krazy Kats to that "want to" list and it could be a very cool musical adventure.

Well, this should come as no shocker, but I'd be into it. As a matter of fact, it's about damned time! I don't know what Hula's (in Santa Cruz) position is on live music, but I'm pretty sure they've got the space for it, and it's plenty convenient for us. I think we can be tempted to make our way over to Fobridden Island and any Oakland venues, too.

FI sounds great....I will look forward to it. If ya need to take a break from the road, I'm sure the Sacramento crowd could help you out. :)

We have a big parking lot and haven't had a party in quite some time.

So Cal in late July or August is kinda nice :)

I'll see who I know that might know booking agents. Maybe you could get Don Ho to open for you or something.

Thanks forgetting the ball rolling, Pablus. I suppose if we're gonna make this happen, this is a great place to start hunting down opportunities. Thanks to everyone who has already chimed in with ideas. I have a feeling we just might be able to make this work.

We've got a booking from a repeat client (my Mother-in-law)in TN in late July, so this year, our annual Chicago/Midwest trip will be happening late July/early August. As those dates fill in, we'll be able to narrow down the time frame to travel west.

If we could find some Private or Corporate work out that way, those gigs could help out alot in the $ dept...we'll hunt down some regional agents, but of course, any leads are more than welcome! Of course, the same goes for venues or events that we might be able to play.

Aloha!

That hack?
What's he ever done?

Yeah...

...anyway, I'm not sure living legends are going to want to subject themselves to me and Josh in the same room.

Our set would be something like - start out with the funny and mellow stuff... move into the Hawai'ian and Hapa Haole... then thrash out some surf. If Don heard me butcher the Hawai'ian language he'd hit me with a baritone uke.

One thing's for sure, Badboom Bend... I'm doing at least 24 hours in HB. And I'm going to get up on a surfboard even if it makes America's Stupidest Videos. Maybe your boys can teach me

Robert, can we play your place in Portland if I promise to write a song about Vespas?

You could check with Dave and Rebecca at the Purple Orchid!!! I know they have bands play all the time.

D

you'll have no problem getting us MetroNatural Seattleites together to hear you play! let me know how i can help!

I wish you could get a gig at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Oregon. Kitty and I are heading down to take in The Smothers Brothers next week which isn't exactly a fresh act. I'd drive the 90 miles if you get a date at Thatch.

H

What about Tonga Hut. Can Grog find out?

S

Email Otto for sure. He has booking contacts and also may have some events up his sleeve to help.

Josh, let me know your exact plans for Tennessee and I'll get you guys a gig here in Knoxville and plan my annual luau around that time as well. That also means I have to have the Hideaway rebuilt by then... July-August sounds bitchin!

And of course keep us all informed so we can help hype it all crazy-like!

Holy cow! Thanks for all of the feedback! We'll have to get working on these leads asap.

Tim - I'll call you this week. We'd love to get a chance to see y'all again! Our gig is in Spencer, and will likely be on a Sunday. Friday & Saturday in Knoxville would be perfect if we could swing it.

Heh. You're too funny!

In addition to Forbidden Island, The Conga Lounge in Oakland might be another venue as well. Michael who co-owns FI is the proprietor there. They have live music and it's a cool little setting.

MR

I'm available to help you out as far as San Diego goes. If it coincides with the Oasis then no worries. But if there is a schedule change let me know. There are a couple of small and fun venues around here. I know I could line something up.
Cheers.

One thing I haven't thought of until just now is doing an afternoon show somewhere like Bamboo Ben's parking lot or a park or something. Maybe even an outdoor venue. One of the coolest gigs we ever did together was outdoors and it rocked.

Gathering of the Tribes part 2 ?

Oh, you'll be playing at FI. We WILL figure it out. Count on it.

And you can expect some DDFs, Mr. P. Count on it.
