Where to buy Bamboo for building a bar

Pages: 1 9 replies

Aloha!!

I am new to the Tikiroom and I am looking for advice from the experts. I am building a bar for the backyard patio. I have the frame almost complete but now i am stuck i can't seem to find any places in the Toronto area that sells bamboo. I've checked home depot and Home HArdware but i've found nothing. Would it be easier if I bought online and where? Or should I wait until the weather gets better because stores like these would carry bamboo in the spring and summer?

Please advise.

Pablo

There are great places to find bamboo online...
Oceanic Arts is awesome. I've heard good things about Benson's Imports too.
However shipping from the Pacific Coast to Toronto may be Expen$ive!

Try checking out yr local "Huge-ass gardening emporium". That's where I'm gonna stock up when the time comes.

Hope that helps.

try your local nuseries and floral wholesellers. that's where we buy most of ours.

You won't find bamboo there except plant stake sized. If you want soemthing like 2 1/2 inch diameter or so you'll need to put in an order with Oceanic Arts. Bamboo is cheap, shipping is expensive. Find a friend or two to split the cost of a bundle with you. And, once you have it, you'll find lots of uses for it.

By all means, look locally. You'll save a fortune if you don't have to get the stuff shipped--even if you have to lash it to your car!

i don't know if they sell to the public, though.
