Or, things to do in the wastelands when your dead(or not fishing). I decided that i would post here the weirdness I have been trying for the last 2 years. The useless bits... I got intrested in tiki by accident around 4 years ago, Roman dirge posted something about a line of tiki mugs he was going to do but i don't think ever did, i liked them and eventually started looking around to find out where they were being sold, one link lead to another and i ended up here, and haven't really looked back(except to remember what got me into it in the first place, drinking and the above incident), then about 2 years ago i got tired of buying mugs and decided that i could do it(lol, easy right), I found a cool pottery class available called the good earth studios in hazelwood/west waynesville nc that fit my schedule and i started the understanding of basic ceramics, which lead to more interesting opportunities and a little heritage, after about a year of the classes i had learned a great deal through everyone at the studio and set out to work on my own ideals. There it is, simple... more pics and some posts later, but this is the first step in this chapter, also I like run-on sentences and commas alot:). *note i am really pretty lazy, and horrible with names and times, i just noticed i joined tc in 04 so the exact numbers above are pretty close give or take a year and a half.

I have never met a drink I didn't like, unless it was that time I met beer...

Nice teaser! Now stop being 'lazy' and post some pics!! I'm hoping to hook up with Jamie & Anjy tomorrow to go to a glaze specialist in London to look for inspiration for the glaze for the mugs I'm intending to produce (with CHEEKYTIKI's help of course!), from the 'Vintage Duncan Tiki Mug Mold' I got recently. I don't think enough emphasis is put on the finishes of some mugs as goes into the design. For me the glazes are equally as important as the design and can really make or break a potential 'killer' mug. Look forward to seeing your work on this post!

All the Best from Tiki Towers - Trader Jim (Make mine a Mai-Tai...and I'll glaze it, ha, ha!).

Right, right. Drum mug is posted on ooga-mooga, new proto is waiting for kiln lift off later this month. Here is the nightmare design for the hurricane i have been working on for the last two years. I have one that is not glazed but is not as tall as i wanted it, so i re-did it.

more work was done and motivation has returned, if only so slightly. the glazes are far less colorful then the photos show, but they definitely can be done so that is something i think. This is the one of the prototypes i have been trying. Glaze testing.

Love the theme !! I can certainly relate. Somebody should just go ahead and create the next hurricane relief mug and just fill in the name when it happens. My house might be next. The Badlands don't look so bad this time of year. Although one certainly feels "tropical" when in a hurricane, which, is a good reason to mix drinks and celebrate the little time one might have left, of course it IS Tuesday morning, another good reason. Cheers!
