Hey all, Just got an e-mail from Billy Shire Fine Arts in Culver City CA. They are hosting Shag's latest works "Conspicuous Consumption" from 9-15-07 / 10-20-07. For this show, Shag made a boatload of original images on 6 inch square canvas. They are selling for $995.00, so it your chance to own an original Shag without selling a kidney or getting a 2nd mortgage. I have nothing to do with this show, just wanted to pass along the info. Maybe a year or so, I would have bought one but "life happens" so I am gonna have to pass - but maybe some of you may be interested. Here is a link to the info: |

That looks like a link to an email letter on your own yahoo email account. We are not going to be able to see that. |

100 paintings x $995 each = $99,500. No wonder he gave up being a graphic designer! |

Yeah, that's a good wad of dough, but I'll bet the gallery takes half. |

Consider as well the larger pieces, including a couple that were 96" wide. Those two were priced at $36,000...and sold the first day.
Not sure on this specific situation but that is a typical arrangement. His prices for originals have certainly gone up since I first tried to acquire one. Then again, his exposure is so much greater now. We got lucky this time. We'd been on this wait list for years. I lost track of all the galleries where I'd put my name down. cpt.midnite |

nothing against shag. i love his style and he's wildly successful and can charge a fortune for his work, BUT, for a thousand bucks you can pick up a couple ken ruzics, tiki tonys or dave burkes that you can see from more than 5 feet away. |

Hey, let's not forget that at his last show Mark Ryden sold a painting for $800,000.00. So, Josh's work is a deal! |
