Here's a bit to whet your appetite - or maybe, I should say, to make you THIRSTY????

The Rendez'vous Mugs are FINALLY HERE!!!
YO HO HO & A BOTTLE OF RUM!!!!

THE ZOMBIE

AND........THE GRAVEDIGGER

I'll be listing them on EBay this coming week on behalf of The Rendez'vous & these are AWESOME mugs!!!

We'll be putting up for auction the very FIRST batch of mugs over the coming weeks. Each is limited to 150.
They come with a signed, numbered card with Mike’s very own recipe, and each mug is also stamped on the bottom “The Rendezvous - Kenosha, WI”.

AND - The ZOMBIE will be produced in different glazes over time - this is the glaze for the first batch. Keep an eye out for the other glazes, too.

The Rendez’vous is a Tiki Bar located in Kenosha, Wisconsin - just between Chicago and Milwaukee. It’s our little Tiki island in the brrrrr……cold Midwest. These mugs were hand-sculpted by Mike, one of the owners of The Rendez’vous, and are being locally handmade in Kenosha in small batches. These are the mugs that James Teitelbaum talked about in the 2nd Edition of Tiki Road Trip on Page 287.

too late!! I went there and got the mugs myself in person!!

..and no, those garnishes are not just for showing off the mug...they really do have that much fruit, greenery and stuff in them when they serve them...

very cool mugs. the zombie looks like it just stepped out of a lord of the rings movie.

I love the Zombie. Looks like Tipsy got the evil critters. Looking forward to snagging one in the future though.

Love the Gravedigger!! Gotta have one of those when you put them up for auction. Will you be posting a link here?

Those are soooooo cool looking. Can't wait to you post the auction..

OK - So do you wanna see more of the Rendezvous than just the few pictures posted at the beginning of this thread???
Now's your chance, as the Rendezvous is being featured on an episode of TV show!!

Here's the scoop:

The show is called tapouT on a network called Versus, which is a boxing, ultimate fighting network from what I understand.
This all came about through the fact that the bouncer (nice guy, by the way) at the Rendezvous is an ultimate fighter & one particular episode of the show is about him. His name is Rob Roy. The crew filmed in the bar for 3 hours & it didn't all end up on the cutting room floor. :) You'll get to see a good amount of the bar in a part of the episode.

So if you want to see more of what the Rendezvous is like, check out the "Rob Roy" episode (#8) of tapouT!!

Oh, and the Gravedigger & Zombie mugs also get some nice exposure in the episode :) :)

It is on air next on Oct 2nd & 3rd - and also later in October as well - here's the schedule:
http://www.versus.com/nw/article/view/37851/?tf=tapout.tpl&catID=79

&, oh yeah - # 3 of both mugs are up on EBay.
Next week will be a week "off" for the autions, so get 'em now :)

I was at a buddy's house the other night while in Seattle and he said to me "I hope you don't mind but I'm gonna swap a couple of your mugs for these new Zombie & Coffin mugs" to which I said no problem. Now in seeing them... anybody wanna trade w/me!!! These are OUTRAGEOUS!

OK - after a week off - we've got the Gravedigger & Zombie mugs back up on EBay for you bidding pleasure.

The Zombie has a darker glaze than the initial ones we sold on EBay - black, with a bit of green thrown in - so check'em out.
They're "OUTRAGEOUS" as MakeDaMug pointed out :)

We were at the Rendezvous this past weekend and got to see these in person. The photos just don't do these justice(no offense), they are really well made and the detail is incredible. Pick one of these bad ass mugs up before they're gone!

C

Thanks for the kind words, BambooLodge :)

You're right - it's hard to capture in pictures how detailed the sculpt is on these mugs - they are really very detailed & you can really tell that they are custom-made, small-batch mugs that are each individually custom painted.

Creo67, I was just wondering when you say painted, do you mean you painted the glazes on or did you use some other kind of paint. I am just getting into ceramics and was curious.

Thanks and love your work! :tiki:

yes - painting the GLAZES on - it may not be the technical term, since I'm not actually doing the "painting" - Mike, the mug designer & bar owner applying the glazes, etc. & I'm just helping him out on getting the word out about his mugs because he is computer-less. AND because I want the Rendez'vous to succeed & be open for many years to come :)

Thanks for likeing the mugs - they are really very cool :)

C

Here's the Zombie with the 2nd Glaze - it's got a lot more Black in it than the previous ones, and a little touch of gerren here & there - to show off all of the crevices in his hideous Zombie face

This is the version that's up on EBay this week - happy bidding to you all :)

& the GraveDigger & the Zombie at the Rendez'vous on one of their mug shelves:

T

I have seen the GRAVEDIGGER mug and it is AWESOME!!!!!
Just in time for halloween.

Mahaloz from The Rendez'vous!!!!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just got back with a few of my friends from the Rendezvous. We had the best time. The drinks are strong and tasty. Mike the owner came over to chat and showed us pictures of his awesome Voodoo Dr. Halloween costume. As soon as you walk in the place it puts you a great state of mind. The decorations and the staff are GREAT. So if you happen to be in the area go there. So thanks to everyone at the Rendezvous for making my 3yr wedding anniversary memorable even though my husband is in Iraq.
