New Blue Hawaiians Disc??

Pages: 1 5 replies

I thought I heard recently that the Blue Hawaiians would be releasing a brand new studio album, but I could find nothing on their web site (http://www.pascalrecords.com/b_bluehawaiians.html)

Does anyone have any info on this??
The band is nothing short of awesome.

I got a DVD promo (short) of (I think) a hope to be released longer dvd
of them performing live over the years at The Lava Lounge,
I had not heard anything about a cd, not that its not true though.

The Slide Guitar player Gary Brandin, has a side project with his son, called the Vanduras, and I heard they are working on a 2nd cd.

Hey Jeff(bigtikidude), the Gary Brandin you refer to as a "Slide" player is actually an Hawaiian Guitar player, the same man who plays on the Spongebob stuff..

well thats what I meant, I used the wrong term.
but the way you say it,
Hawaiian guitar player,
I picture him playing an acoustic guitar, doing Slack Key songs now.

So I was gonna say Pedal Steel player, but he doesn't have pedals on his
Instrument.

and he also doesn't play a Steel guitar either.
so what is the name of his instrument?

Its not a lap steel as it has legs.

Ok. now this is a "Can of Worms" fraught with misconceptions..
It IS a steel guitar, that's the 'Generic' name for the instrument,
He Plays it Hawaiian "Style", i.e. as opposed to 'Slide' players, who generally play Blues or Rock.

The term Hawaiian Guitar is generally accepted worldwide to mean the instrument we're discussing, the resurgence in "Slack Key" and the insistence of a lot of the players to call it Hawaiian Guitar is somewhat muddying the water so to speak.
I'll elaborate after my evening meal which is now going cold,
BYE..

Thanks for the info Jeff!! I should have poked around a bit more on the Pascal web site and I would have found the Vanduras!
5 seconds into the sample clip and I was hitting the "add to cart" button!!
THANKS!
