Tikitastic...how about sharing your "top five rums" .
I will never be able to do all 97 but would love to get to a few of the favorites next time up.

Since you asked Tikihai.....

Let me preface my list with noting that I am not one to normally drink my rum neat.....and my taste preference leans heavily towards the sweet flavors.

My Top Dozen Rums from the Forbidden Island Kill-Devil Club list

  1. Pyrat Cask 23
  2. Ron Zacapa Centenario
  3. Vizcaya VXOP (taste even better paired with Scharffen Berger Antilles Dark Chocolate!)
  4. Montecristo 12 Year
  5. One Barrel
  6. Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva
  7. Zaya
  8. Appleton Estate Extra
  9. Pyrat Pistol
  10. Rhum Barbencourt Pango Spiced
  11. Flora de Cana Centenario 18 Year
  12. Four Squared Spiced Rum

Here are a few that are more expensive than I would order normally, but were well worth trying once....

  • El Dorado Demerara 25 Year ($45 a shot)
  • British Royal Navy Imperial Rum ($110 for 2 ounces) -- this is some of the last of the leftovers from pre-Black Tot Day.

Other Highlights:

  • Biggest surprise for mixing in a drink was the Cruzan Black Strap Rum in a Dead Sailor. Remember, I like sweet, and the molasses taste of the Black Strap mixed with the brown sugar in the Dead Sailor produces a really nice maple flavor!
  • The Clement Creole Shrubb was pretty nice tasting even with the funny sounding name.

Very cool,
thanks for that list Mark,

wish they did something like that at the Tiki Ti.

I video'd the ceremony of Mark finishing off the Kill Devil list on my new camera, and uploaded it onto Youtube. It took several attempts to upload that sucker, but it's there now, and you can check it out here. Hanford will hopefully embed the video onto this page later. Congrats again, Mark! All hail Tikitastic, the King of Rum!!! Cheers!

Creole Shrubb !! hehe I like it because of it's name

....high.....way... to the.... danger zone......
