Excellent Exotica!

Maybe I'm behind the curve on this one, but I just found a site that streams a GREAT exotica radio show (2 hours worth) 24/7. The show is "Retro Cocktail Hour" from KANU (who knew Kansas was so happening?) There's a new show every week and a CD giveaway. Check it out.

ooooh -- lucky you. I've been trying to access that one for ages, but my wretched system chokes and dies every time I try (wretched system inded -- it's my own incompetence, but a bad workwoman always blames her tools). It comes highly recommended from the Exotica list, along with various other goodies like Martinis with Mancini that I can't get hold of. Curses!

There is as well a local (SF) shoutcast stream that some may be aware of that plays Exotica, Space Age Pop, Lounge and the like called "Chez Whitey." You can get it by pointing your Winamp to Chez Whitey.

Just heard about an independent movie coming out in June called "The Woman Chaser," that apparently has a sountrack of all exotica including Les Baxter, Martin Denny, et.al. Sounds cool. Hope they release a soundtrack.

Google is wonderful! Here's a link to the movie soundtrack:

Excellent!! I heard one of the cuts by Daniel Luppi. I guess he's the actual composer on the soundtrack. It's a great tribute to the masters of Exotica. Always nice to hear a modern composer fighting the good fight.

I hope all the former leading ladies of mine will see it, especially those who didn’t seem to get it about the music surrounding me. Literally.

Hey, Kawentzmann! I hope your leading ladies do see it. I just checked out your tunes and they are fab. Do you have any more details about you and your music you can share with us? Hope to hear more.

The link originally given in this thread appears to be obsolete now. The show is accessible from:
http://kansaspublicradio.org ;
use the "Program Quick Links" dropdown menu to find "The Retro Cocktail Hour" (under "T," not "C").

I can't get the show started. #(&^@ Web programmers! They try so hard to get fancy nothing (*@^&# works....

Definitely good stuff. they play waitiki too :wink: I actually just talked with the host there and we may try to do a live show at some point over in the midwest (live radio/lounge thing). apparently, this show is the most popular show of the entire station!
