Beyond Tiki, Bilge, and Test / Beyond Tiki

After all, we are individuals...

Pages: 1 13 replies

Sometimes I'm not sure if I like or do not like the threads that propagate here on 'Beyond Tiki'.

I hope that like ohana, we can have our agreements (tiki) and disagreements (politics, lifestyle etc) and remain ohana.

I find myself inexplicably drawn to these types of threads, and as such, am as much to blame as anyone for the degradation of the decorum that Hanford rightly attempts to maintain.

I learned long ago, that once a bell is rung, it cannot be unrung. Words that are meant to hurt, do.

If we're going to engage in this type of debate, please post a reply to this thread stating that you will never take anything hurled in your direction personal, and after the thread is locked, we let bygones by bygones.

Aloha

as a reply to the subject...

"Yes, we're all individuals!"
"I'm not.."

I've started an entirely separate website which all who are compelled to post provocative things (like me) are more than welcome to post at:

Bong, you mean all the lifting and training I've been doing for the OC crawl was for not? Let's get it on!

Tikimonkey,
You beat me to the Life of Brian quote.

I swear to not hit any tiki centralite upon meeting them due to the fact that I have different views from them too.

I'll never forget a news blip on a Madonna concert back in the 80's. They were interviewing all these girls dressed up like Madonna. The news person says, Why do you dress like this? The relpy was, So I can express my individuality.

Bong, you took the words out of my mouth.

Yeah, we're all entitled to hold our views and have the occasional disagreements as long as we all make up afterwards.

Only yesterday my wife came back from a "Vomit on Blair & Bush for Peace" demo and splattered red paint on my brand new "M.O.A.B. the bastards 'till their fillings fly out their ass" T-shirt. I had to Mace her, but once she got back her eyesight, we both saw the funny side.

Bong is trying to lash out and soften everybody up.
He has decided to "come out" and join his true "comunity"
I am all in favor of "choose your own lifestyle" and have nothing against anyone who does.
But "God damn it" Bong, NO No no
I will not join you, I will not agree to your advances.
This is however AMERICA (atleast where I am sitting)
You have your FREEDOM to be a fool.
And your RIGHT to be wrong!
So Bong, we see right thru what you are trying to do, we are not buying it.
Stop calling me!! I can't take it anymore!!
It is OK to be you, just ask Bamboo Ben's

I want to be different, like everybody else I want to be like
I want to be just like all the different people
I have no further interest in being the same,
because I have seen difference all around,
and now I know that that's what I want
I don't want to blend in and be indistinguishable,
I want to be a part of the different crowd
and assert my individuality along with others
who are different like me
I don't want to be identical to anyone or anything
I don't even want to be identical to myself
I want to look in the mirror and wonder,
"who is that person? I've never seen that person before;
I've never seen anyone like that before."
I want to call into question the very idea that
identity can be attached
I want a floating, shifting, ever changing persona:
Invisibility and obscurity,
detachment from the ego and all of it's pursuits
Unity is useless
Conformity is competitve and divisive and leads only to
stagnation and death.
If what I'm saying doesn't make any sense,
that's because sense can not be made
It's something that must be sensed
And I, for one, am incensed by all of this complacency
Why oppose war only when there's a war?
Why defend the clinics only when they're attacked?
Why are we always reactive?
Let's activate something
Let's fuck shit up
Whatever happened to revolution for the hell of it?
Whatever happened to protesting nothing in particular, just
protesting cause it's Saturday and there's nothing else to do?

Sounds just like the sort of gloom-laden, self-absorbed, tattooed'n'pierced loser dickwads I used to know back in the early '80s. They're all either half-dead junkies or stockbrokers now of course...yawn.
