Pages: 1 1 replies

The Ventura Film Festival is showing this documentary - Havanna, the new art of making ruins. This Saturday afternoon at the Elks Club in Ventura among the entries. They are having the screenings at the historic Elks club , it looks like Monte Carlo and has been restored. The Ventura pier is one of the coolest walks on earth and a few blocks away. You can see the islands across the channel 26 miles away and if you're lucky may spot some of the whales cruising along the shore.

O

This film is a must see. There is alot of pre revolution footage and the cars on the streets mostly from the fifties look great. It is also a sad film to hear the stories of the people who continue to live in the crumbling buildings despite the danger. I want to go see this for myself, its time this embargo ends. The Ventura Film Festival presented 73 films over 4 days. The next festival will be in March 2010.
Real stories of real people. Can't wait for next year.
