So there is a new Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum that is being put together in Long Beach at the corner of 7th and Alamitos. They have been painting the murals on the outside for a while now but have just recently put the name on the outside so I looked some stuff up. Here is a small article about it.

Haven't seen any other information about it so I thought I'd post it here. Anyone know anything else about it?

But it's good to know someone's close by and watching its progress! Keep us posted, please.

So here are some photos of the mural on the outside of the building...

Thanks for keeping us updated. Wow, the man who started the museum passed away in January....

It's been totally fun watching those guys paint the building.

Can't wait.

Just had to add I love the murals - a great way of making a very boring building look great. I like the A frame they included.

The photos really conjure up the South Seas vibe, even in urban LA!

That is great. I have been driving past this building and wondering if I should stop in.

Looks like I better find a day to visit.

Has anyone been?
How is it?

Once I get over being sick I'll check out the Christmas gift ideas in person and post some pics. The 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' in Hawaiian looks cool, as does the mask. The storyboards are really nice.

From their Facebook page:
Still looking what to get your family and friends. There are plenty of great gift possibilities for all ages from stocking stuffers such as bracelets, earrings, chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, to carved jewelry, hand-painted ornaments and storyboards from the islands.
