I'll never understand why people are willing to continue smoking knowing what they're going to go through, and what they're going to put their loved ones through.

But drinking and destroying your liver or being a dysfunctional alcoholic who messes up their children's lives is okay?

Tiki is not a virtue. It is a vice, plain and simple.

There is nothing honorable or glorious about choosing one obsession for another unless you consider that at least with smoking you don't loose your job, family, or leave your children emotionally unequipped to deal with life. Might you die early. Yes. Is it good not to smoke. Yes. But thinking that not smoking is better than not smoking and yet still drinking more than 3 oz of alcohol a day or drinking to excess is an illusion.

Both kill, both destroy, and ultimately families are the ones that pay the price.

The Tiki Ti is a temple dedicated to the embracing of vice. All who enter it understand the consequences.

If you want to smoke..then smoke. If you don't or you quit then that is your choice as well. Why is everyone so concerned with getting others to stop smoking--esp those who recently have stopped themselves?

I get so tired of people standing on top of their soapboxes and looking down at others--esp when in lieu of smoking they eat too much or drink too much or shop too much or drive recklessly or do one or more of a million other things that can affect others negatively.

People should be less concerned with what other people are doing and worry about themselves.

The government has already stepped in to prohibit smoking in the majority of shared spaces and if you dont want to inhale smoke at a bar that allows it then DON'T GO.

Why is this concept so hard to understand?

Congrats if you give up 1 addiction--which smoking is--but leave others to their own devices because unless you follow every law, dont overinduldge on anything and are pretty much a saint then regardless of not smoking you don't have any room to judge anyone who does.

Did anyone say being an alky was ok? With smoking, you might lose your job, family...because your DEAD!! I can't speak for others, but I do not drink 3 oz of alcohol a day. Also don't drink to excess all the time. Just occasionally.

Why is everyone concerned? Because some of us are nice people. You get tired of people standing on soapboxes and "looking down at others"??

I was not aware that was what I was doing. I was just sharing a personal success story. Hopefully it inspires some other people.

This thread was not started by me to engage in political discussion, either covertly or overtly. I can see some of you are veering in that direction, especially leleliz with your codeword of "government has already stepped in", which pretty much identifies your political leanings. Frankly, I would rather not know. Use another thread as your soapbox to push your anti-government agenda, please.

If anyone wants to know how I am doing with my smoking cessation, please PM me. Likewise, if anyone wants to try to quit and needs a anti-smoking buddy, please contact me.

I am done with this thread, and since some of you are pushing it into the political realm too far, I suggest that this thread be locked, and I am sorry I started it. Pushing some stupid political agenda was NOT what I started this thread for!!!! I had no ulterior motives, just sharing a personal story, that's it.
