Do You TC at Work?

Pages: 1 45 replies

Is it me or does it seem nothing happens on the here weekends? That leads me to believe that you Mai Tai all weekend, then squander away your work hours on TC regaling us with your stories while you get paid for it. Am I right?

Hells Yah!

I got photoshop open on 2-things
Work and some event flyer
and TC on in the corner..

weekends and evenings are for painting!

yep

RB

You nailed it!

The fact that all of my posts occur Mondays through Fridays during normal business hours is merely a coincidence.

and we wonder why the economy of america is in the shitter.
I can't TC and work at the same time,
computers and pool water don't mix well.

that's why I have been late leaving for work alot lately.
got curious what kind of stuff I am missing during the day.
turns out not a whole lot.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

the economy's in the pooper
cause most kids these days
would rather watch television or play Wii
and kick back
instead of cracking open a book and learning something....
we're helping the TIKI economy on TC!

all the time!

lol!!!

p.s.

M. jagger/k. richards)

Lets drink to the hard working people
Lets drink to the lowly of birth
Raise your glass to the good and the evil
Lets drink to the salt of the earth

Say a prayer for the common foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back breaking work
Say a prayer for his wife and his children
Who burn the fires and who still till the earth

And when I search a faceless crowd
A swirling mass of gray and
Black and white
They dont look real to me
In fact, they look so strange

Raise your glass to the hard working people
Lets drink to the uncounted heads
Lets think of the wavering millions
Who need leaders but get gamblers instead

Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
His empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of the gray suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio

And when I look in the faceless crowd
A swirling mass of grays and
Black and white
They dont look real to me
Or dont they look so strange

Lets drink to the hard working people
Lets think of the lowly of birth
Spare a thought for the rag taggy people
Lets drink to the salt of the earth

Lets drink to the hard working people
Lets drink to the salt of the earth
Lets drink to the two thousand million
Lets think of the humble of birth

CJ

I only TC while drinking and I can't drink while I'm at work.

Turtle Crap?

me too !
work is fleeting, TIKI IS FOREVER! lol

Speaking of sage advice from the Stones, don't forget multimillionaire Mick's super clunky Let's Work.

The highly inspiring lyrics are below, but since you're probably at work reading this why not check out the video?

OH MY GAWD! L@@K! He's running down the middle of the freeway!!!

No sitting down on your butt
The world don't owe you
No sitting down in a rut
I wanna show you
Don't waste your energy
On making enemies
Just take a deep breath
And work your way up

Let's work, be proud
Stand tall, touch the clouds
Man and woman, be free
Let's work, kill poverty

Let's work, be proud
Stand tall, touch the clouds
Man and woman, be free
Let's work, kill poverty

You're sitting down on your butt
And you get greedy
You start to lose your nuts
Don't you look seedy
Can't generosity bring you humility
So take a deep breath

Ain't gonna sweat for you
Ain't gonna sigh for you
Ain't gonna cry for you
If you're lazy

Ain't gonna slave for you
Ain't gonna hurt for you
It just won't work for you
If you're lazy

Let's work, be proud
Stand tall, touch the clouds
Let's work, let's eat
Let's live in ecstasy
Man and woman, be free
Let's work, kill poverty...
Blah blah blah
Work! blah blah dirt!
Blah blah blah

Cheers!

Mick is another story. What was the last band that cashed in like the bands who survived from the 60's? (de-rail, sorry)

Do I TC at work?? Does a bear shit in the woods....

LLT ..I resent this comment... I have been a pooldude for over 10 years, I have supported myself, and Polly, and I also helped put her through collage. It also gives me the opportunity to make my own hours so that I can live life ,do my art and spend time with my family and friends. Its not exactly a "kick back" kind of job, either Pool guys work realy hard and sweat everyday...So No Talking shit about Pooldudes..

To answer the queston.. Do you TC at work?.. Yes I Am posting this from my google phone, while sitting in a lounge chair next to a customers pool...I guess the only thing missing is a maitai...Kirby

KIRBY WROTE...

LLT ..I resent this comment... I have been a pooldude for over 10 years, I have supported myself, and Polly, and I also helped put her through collage.

Very good,Kirby!
So sorry you resent that comment
but here in America,we are free to express it
just as you are free to resent it!
All I'm saying (and this is for all poolcleaners and their ilk)
is that you MAY of had to work a lil less harder if you cracked some books
and you say you've been an artist these past few years as well...
I bet you've never read a whole Art History Book from front to back
and that's your main interest!
An self-education is something every artist should work to obtain
It would help them see where they and their work fit in
as well as allow them to communicate themselves clearly to others...
for example....it's COLLEGE,not collage....
:)

that escalated fast huh ?

L

Anchorman for the win!

What is with all these pointless topics on here instigating all this pointless drama? Wish I could U-Mod all these waste of space threads right off this forum because its really getting out of control.

I will wait for the pool guy/college argumement to escalate even further because I am sure it will..if there isn't any drama on TC then the day just isn't complete!

Did Tikiville say "escalators"?

THAT TRIDENT SCENE CRACKS ME UP IN ANCHORMAN!

Don't worry about Kirby
We love to rouse our little Eeyore!
He was born with a "thin skin" condition
atop a spelling deficiency....

Looks like i just got a permanent ban from the Rumpus Room...

i think a lotta folks on TC don't "get" us SoCal crew's hijinx
It's like a Dean Martin roast everytime we assemble....
You kids call it drama
We just call it amusement
Besides bitter Clysdalle
(who is usually latest to arrive at an art show setup and first to leave)
everyone down here loves each other
and highly respects each other's work...
TC is just an extension of our jokin
so please don't get too upset
when you see us bantering about
just move to the next post below the "offensive" one! :)

Where is that sarcasm font when you need it...

Yes,LLT you do have the freedom to say what you want,But at what cost?(Our friendship perhaps). You insulted my lively hood, and when I tried to defend it,you decided to insult me further by pointing out my spelling errors and my lack of knowledge in art or whatever, in order to make a point, and to make me look bad..Well I may be a bad speller and an ignorant artists, but you are an asshole, and I dont need your lessons in life...

FYI...I have read an art history book... It called "The book of tiki" Kirby

R

kirby...I think you need to step away from the computer...go take a breather and then come back...resorting to calling someone an "asshole" isn't really a constructive way of handling the situation...and it really makes you look bad too...

Seriously...do we need Hanford to shut down TC again??!

lighten up kids...

i am so glad this in Bilge...

Kirbs,
i take my comment about you never reading an "Art" Book cover to cover
and redact it...
Also my comment about pool Cleaners..
They are the Finest individuals i have ever had a chance to meet!

and please...no harsh language or curse words...
PM me if you'd like to discuss this overblown issue
and I'll order some tridents!

Now can we get back on topic?
:)

CJ

don't make me help shut down the site again.

FYI..I'm on my 1st beer

Crap I lost my thought.

For what its worth I have cracked open and read front to back many books.
Especially ones about Pool Chemistry and Upkeep.
I took a course on it, and a Final test, and got certified by the state of California.
Not only is Pool cleaning hard work, it does take some brain work too.
not just brawn.
And I would like to think that we are not lazy.
We are cleaning the pools for the owners, who are the lazy ones.

Some could say that artists how ever well schooled they are, could be considered lazy in a sense.
they used their minds to become artists to not have to get a (REAL) job.

its good to know that there are some sane people here on TC.
Thanks Joe,
that means alot.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

[ Edited by: bigtikidude 2009-06-18 07:50 ]

Sane?
a guy who gets a thread shut down
and a guy who threatened to punch me
If that's sane
sign me up to the looney bin!

Read Plato's "Death of Socrates"
to see what happens to a person when they stick out
lots of good discourses on individuality and revealing truths, however touchy..

Jeff sez:

i totally agree!
The worse are the lazy unschooled and unproductive ones...

ahem...many artists HAVE real jobs as well as working an additional 30-40 hours producing art

artist's brains ,at least the ones I've known or read about, are different
we can work and excel at normal jobs
but have an inner-urge to create that takes over everything else.

NOW CAN WE PLEASE GET BACK ON TOPIC?

or can someone start a REAL JOB vs ARTIST thread?
(i'm kidding...please don't)

Yes, I TC at work. So does Java Loa and then we get together in one of our cubicles and discuss. This will make for an interesting discussion today. Thanks guys for the entertainment!
Now stop the horseplay or you'll all have to get out of the pool!

:: hey-O mahalo! i smelt smoke down in the bilge & thought i'd drop in from my day-work (rarely do, as it's far too addictive); however, the night-work (freelance) will have me on TC more often than not, as well as a few mixology blogs, like the revered triple-B's , and the more cosmopolitan KaiserPenguin's , + euro-footy news...

  • btw kiki - have some ideas to run by you for your upcoming website!

:drink: java loa & i have some homemade falernum to share...(?!?)

Hooray! Website!
Hooray! Falernum!
Hooray! TC @ work!
Now I'm outtie so I can go home and take pictures of purses.
I may even take a swim in the pool!
Hooray!

LOL!!!!!!!

I see LLT only posted 10 posts today! Tsk, tsk. But in the grand scheme of things, I also see he has posted 4,035 posts since joining on June 13, 2006. That's an average of 1,345 per year or 5.09 per day (assuming only Monday thru Friday posting at work, 22 days per month). So his 10 today is above average!
It also means that he just celebrated his 3 year Tiki Central anniversary!
Happy Anniversary, Kinny!
(Posted by KvT while at work, waiting for 5:45 so I can high-tail it outta here!)

Hanford, we need a "Boss Mode" on TC. When you hit "ALT B", it eliminates the banners & green background and makes it look like a spreadsheet :D

Mikey! You gotta learn the fine art of keeping multiple windows in different sizes open at all times so you can just click on the big one and hide the smaller one( with TC on it)! Oh, look! I farted around till lunch time! Gotta go!

[ Edited by: Kiki von Tiki 2009-06-30 11:52 ]

spreadsheets are for suckersTC on the lil genie bar on the bottom!

You're All Fired!

YAY!

Now we can TC ALL DAY uninterrupted by work!

YAY!

Multiple windows...hmmm. That's what you use the ALT-Tab key for right?
