might anyone be able to tell me history of this mask?

it says in the link that it's hawaiin but i'm pretty sure my friend brought it from somewhere else.

i just happened upon this actual image when searching for "chainsaw wood mask" on google (for info on carving masks with a chainsaw) but we have a mask at home that looks just like this one except ours is lighter in color.

thanks in advance.

Been discussed here before. These are mass produced. Probably in the Philipines. The design is just made up I think.

cool, thanks. i did find a few more very similar styles.

looks like they're made in phillipines

possibly traditional Ifugao masks.

Here's mine... just seven inches tall.

Cost Plus?

I had one of those hanging on my door when I was around 10 years old. Loved that thing! I remember looking through the various eye-holes. They were all over the place in Hawaii 25 years ago - but as folks have already said they came from somewhere else.

I've also heard them called Dragon Masks. They're not tikis but that didn't stop tiki restaurants and apartments from using them as decor, even back in the 1970s.

Similar fiberglass ones in the Orchids Catalog

I see wooden variations in the wild all the time.

Buzzy Out!
