Just a heads up folks,

tickets for Ohana go on sale Monday, 2/22 at 10AM EST

We're capping attendance again this year to keep the event small & intimate, so don't delay in purchasing your tickets!

We've held the price at $75, and that INCLUDES dinner on Saturday night (pig roast!!)

We're also doing an 80s style kick-off "Prom" Party in Club Whispers (on site) on Thursday night before Ohana (ticketed separately) that also includes food, so plan on coming out early and help us start the weekend off right!

More info on the website: http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com

Mahalo, and we'll see ya at the Lake!

it's 8:30 a.m. here in the midwest- shouldn't the ticket sales be up on the site based on eastern standard time?? i didn't see it....do i have the time wrong?

I'm here on the East Coast, and it's 9:48 right now

They weren't kidding, the tix page changed at 10:00 on the dot.

Ohana or bust!

T

FIRST...Sully said I could brag.

B

Tipsy:

lol

okay-okay.....i got it....tickets have been purchased-thanks!

that"s what happens when i don't have my morning cup of coffee first....

[ Edited by: Tipsy McStagger 2010-02-22 10:18 ]

I bought ours at 10:02 or so!

Sooooo looking forward to this...

B

Just a heads up, tickets are going FAST!!!

Huge mahalos to those who have already purchased. And to those who haven't, I'd suggest pulling the trigger soon. We don't want to see you left out of the fun.

See ya at the Lake!

http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com

Man I cannot wait for this event! If it is anything like last years it will be amazing! Truly about enjoying Ohana and Aloha rather than just a money maker. And in a town lost in time talk about escapism.

Ticket bought.....reservations made.....can't friggin wait!!!!

Paul, to be fair, Ohana DID make money (well, ok, the silent auction & raffle made money, the event broke even) we just gave the money away to charity.

And we're doing that again this year. To the Easter Island Foundation once again!!

We've sold about 3/4 of the tickets folks, so buy now, or regret later!!

http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com

Gave it all away?

Think of all the rum that money would have bought!

Latest update for those who don't get our email blasts (and if you dont, why not? Go sign up at http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com and make sure you have [email protected] on your allowed list)

Alooooooooha!!!!

First, a big Mahalo to everyone who has purchased tickets for this year’s Ohana out at the Tiki Resort in beautiful Lake George, NY.

Ticket sales have been overwhelming!

If you haven’t pulled the trigger yet, you’d better act fast. We only have a limited number of tickets available, and we will sell out again this year.

And speaking of selling out (how’s that for a segue?) the Tiki Resort is now SOLD OUT. Its possible that some rooms may open up due to cancellations, but in the meantime, if you haven’t made lodging arrangements, fear not!!

Our official over-run hotel is once again the Holiday Inn, directly across the street from the Tiki (with a fantastic vantage point for some spectacular photos of the Tiki & the Lake). They’ve given us a rate of $159/night. Give them a call at 800.315.2621 and be sure to mention the Ohana Tiki Event to get in on the room block. You can get more info at http://www.lakegeorgeturf.com/

If you don’t mind a bit of a walk to/from the event, there are also some GREAT old mid century modern motels to stay at up the road (I’ll list some w/ pics at the end).

Also, the Lake George Battleground State Campground is RIGHT next door to the Tiki for those who want to go native and rough it. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/24453.html

And there are a couple of other campgrounds around if you want to hitch up that vintage Airstream and take her out for a cruise!

Ok, so now that your lodging problems are solved, onto to the fun stuff!!!

We are doing the Dole Cocktail Contest again this year!! We’re going to switch it up a bit and try to have more items available to the entrants, but its pretty much the same idea. Create an original cocktail creation using AT LEAST one Dole product and compete for fabulous awards & prizes (not to mention bragging rights) Entrees will be judged on Use of Dole Products, Presentation, and Taste.

If you’re interested in showing off your mixology skills, just send me an email ( [email protected] ) with the word CONTEST in the subject line. Spots are limited, so if you want in, let me know soon!

Much more to come, so keep an eye on your inbox.

Mahalo! and we’ll see ya at the Lake!!!

-Bargoyle

ps. I almost forgot!!

if anyone wants to take a french thereminist and his wife on their car from NYC to Ohana on friday and/or back to NY on sunday, that would be awesome. We would help on the gaz price of course.

Hey folks, just a quick update of all things Ohana.

We've updated the EVENTS portion of the website, although we still have some BIG announcements (coming soon!) to fill in those TBAs, but you can go & take a peek if you want.

http://www.luauatthelake.com

Also, we've still got slots for the Dole Cocktail Contest if you want to show off your ninja-style mixology skills. Hit me with a PM or email to [email protected] to get in on the fun.

Prizes, booze, and bragging rights. Whats not to love?

Lots more to come on the Sponsor, vendor, performers, ...well EVERYTHING front, and you will NOT be disappointed, I guarantee it!!

And if you haven't bought tickets yet, do NOT delay. We're getting close to capacity, and trust me, you NEED to be there.

http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com

See ya at the Lake!!

V

Do anyone know if there's a train or bus that goes to Lake George from NYC. Apparently, http://www.trailways.com/travel/individual-bus-tickets/northeast.asp does, but I can't find the schedule or anything.

Is it JUNE, yet????

Please, please make it come SOON!!!!

Not quite June.... I think it snowed in Lake George today actually.

B

Aloha Kids!

Its your Uncle Bargoyle, back with more announcements from the Lake.

First of all, we’re thrilled to announce that Fisherman will be joining us again this year, so get ready for some wild vibraphone antics on Saturday afternoon… maybe even enjoy the set while lounging in the pool!

We’ve also got a bunch of new vendors who are joining us, offering you the finest in Retro/Tiki/Polynesian Pop wares. You can see the list at http://www.luauatthelake.com/id8.html

Not only vendors, but we’ve got some GREAT sponsors that have stepped up again this year, giving us swag & freebies and ensuring that the event is gonna rock your socks off!! Check them out at http://www.luauatthelake.com/id9.html and be sure to support them whenever possible!!!

We’ve also got a couple of spots open for those who want to host a room during our (in)famous Room Crawl (more info here: http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=35113&forum=4&start=15&22 ). If you’re interested, contact Hep at [email protected]

And we’ve got a few spots still open for the Dole Cocktail Contest. If you want in on that (or need more info) contact me: [email protected]

And while we’re on the subject of things we have a few of (I am becoming a segue master!), tickets to the event continue to sell!!

Huge Mahalos to those who have purchased, and those who haven’t, seriously, now is the time. You can get tix at http://www.luauatthelake.com/id4.html

Oh, also, if you weren’t planning on joining us at the Kick Off 80s Prom on Thursday night, but have changed your mind, you can add the prom to your tickets on the webpage (www.LuauAtTheLake.com). I really think its going to be one of the stand-out events of the weekend, so if your schedule permits, grab your parachute pants & Aqua Net, and join us for a magical Prom, the way it SHOULD have been. You can peep some of the Prom shenanigans and planning over on the FOM website: http://www.fraternalorderofmoai.org/huimalu/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8682

Lots more to come really soon, including more music, entertainment, vendors, activities and the Limited Edition Ohana Mug!! ( Holy Sh*t did Squid knock it outta the park this year. Pics soon, I promise. )

B

AlooooooooHA!!!!

Greetings from the Ohana secret underground bunker, where we continue to work on our fiendish plots of supporting good causes through great events …and time travel.

And along the time travel lines, not only is Ohana weekend chock full of Eisenhower Era tiki goodness (and live bands, and shows, and food, and vendors, and fun fun fun) but we’ve also got the kickoff party on Thursday night bristling with 70s funk & 80s cheese.

Yeah, we’re setting the WABAC machine to just a few decades ago, and ripping it up, prom style!!

Held in Club Whispers (virtually unchanged since the mid 80s with disco balls, walls of colored lights, lasers, etc), “In the Air Tonight” promises to be a funkadelic, rockin’ good time, featuring DJ Hi-Fi Hijinks spinning all the classics of the 70s & 80s.

$25 gets you in, and we’re even including dinner, so break out your old bell bottoms, parachute pants, Aqua Net & Member’s Only jacket, and like totally be there!!

Prom the way it should have been, with great folks, food, music & cocktails. Don’t forget to vote for King & Queen!

You can add Prom tix to your Ohana package on the ticket page: http://www.luauatthelake.com/id4.html

You don’t want to miss this. I’m sure folks will be talking about it for months to come!

. . .

And now, on a totally different subject (sorry, I couldn’t come up with a segue for this one) I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what vendors are going to be there, so folks can gauge how much cash to bring (don’t worry, there’s an ATM right next door if you don’t want to travel with cash).

Well, I’m excited to say that we have an absolutely STELLAR lineup of vendors, most of whom are making their ONLY East Coast appearance at Ohana!!

Want a list? Of course you do.

The swag for Ohana has started to arrive....

and HOLY BIG TICKET ITEMS!!!!!!!

Much love to all of our Sponsors & Donors!!

Especially our Menehune and Outrigger level Sponsors, who have gone above & beyond what any of us expected, and shown why they ARE our Top Level Sponsors:

**Folly Cove Rum
Trader Vic’s
Dole
Kahiki Foods
Royer **

I cant let the surprises out, but lets just say that the value of the swag alone is MORE than the Ohana ticket price!!! For real.

That's not some marketing/selling/ "act now or lose out" bullshit. We've got stuff that we're giving to everyone FOR FREE (thanks to our generous Sponsors) that would cost you MORE to buy than an Ohana ticket!!!!

And then we're feeding ya, giving ya a Polynesian Show, and bombarding your senses with sights & sounds to last a lifetime. BEST. VALUE. IN. TIKI. period. Ok, that part was me selling, but its true.

We've always tried to give attendees as much as possible, and this year, you folks are in for some major treats!!

Can't wait to see ya at the Lake!!

ps. BIG email announcement to go out (hopefully) today. Keep your eyes on your inbox!

Just a reminder folks, the Ohana 2010 mug goes on sale Tomorrow at noon (EST)

The mug is available to Ohana attendees ONLY, and there are only 100 of them, so don't delay.

Also tomorrow we start our Make Tiki History poll/contest where our attendees get to NAME the Iconic Tiki who guards the entrance to the resort, and is the basis for this years mug!!!

If you havent bought tickets yet, there's still time (but not much) to get in on all the action.

Mahalo, and as always, we'll see ya at the Lake!

http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com

B

Hey folks, sorry for the late update, but the direct link to mug sales is here:

http://www.luauatthelake.com/mug.html

Again, a limited edition of 100, available only to Ohana attendees. If any are not pre-sold, we'll sell em first come first serve at the event, and then online afterward if any are still available.

They're already moving pretty fast (thanks everyone who purchased) and dont forget to vote to Name The Tiki!!!!

See ya at the Lake!

http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com

Too many great events all at the same time!!!

B

Yeah, sorry about that Vince.

Unfortunately, that last weekend in June was the only open Summer date at the Tiki Resort, and the biggest complaint we got about last year's Ohana in Sept was that it was TOO COLD (it was pretty damn chilly in the evenings).

So, now we're in at the early end of summer for the Adirondacks, and looking forward to perfect weather. Warm enough for the pool and fun in the sun, but not sweltering hot... and all of Lake George's attractions will be open!!

If you can only goto one, head to So Florida. The Mai Kai is something really special to behold.

And if you can get up to Lake George too, I promise we'll show ya a good time!

See ya at the Lake!!

It would be rude of me to ignore such a warm invitation! I absolutely love upstate NY. I was on staff for Woodstock 94. The festival was, of course, a blast. But, we were on site several days prior to the festival and fell in love with the tranquility and relaxed mood of Woodstock, Saugerties and Winslow. Looking at the pics of Lake George, I felt a yearning to get back to the area. And the Tiki Resort? Well, I have to see this place! So, when does pre-registration start for Ohana 2011?

LOL. Lets get this one out of the way before we start taking reservations for 2011 (although I DO already have some plans for next year!)

I've gotta agree with ya on Upsate NY, & the Lake George area in particular. It really is a place "trapped in time". As a seasonal town, there arent many "big name" hotels/restaurants/stores, so its all little roadside motels and mom & pop shops from the 50s & 60s.

One part pristine Lake in absolutely gorgeous surroundings, and one part mid-century tourist trap....with the last Esienhower era Tiki Themed Resort right in the middle of it all!!

For folks like us, its a vacation wonderland.

Hope to see ya next year!

Exactly! I can't remember who, but someone said it was like Disneyland for tikiphiles.

And I love that crazy little hotel already, and I've only been there once.

Well, I mentioned it to Mrs. Martini. She took a gander at some of the Polaroids and blew a gasket out of sheer retro joy! I knew she would totally dig it!

I think it is now firmly pre-determined that this crazy couple will be New England bound for our 2011 TIKI fixation/vacation. Ergo, you folks have to have ultra whacked-out fun in 2010, so this event will slide right into cruise control when 2011 roll around. Ya dig? I knew that you could!

I am definitely going to make some memories at Hukilau in 2010. But, I (now) am also looking forward to Ohanu, too!

PICTURES! I want to see lots of pictures!!!
