"Midnight Madness" Bike Ride in San Diego Aug. 21 - Who wants to come "represent" for TC?

Not really a Tiki Event, but we could make it one...

Any TC member cycling enthusiasts out there? I saw this on an upcoming ride calendar, and it looks like a blast. It's a midnight bike "fun" ride that loops around the San Diego area with prizes for best costumes and lights, etc. Yes, a TC Tiki presence would fit right in!!

YOU ARE KILLING ME!! Don't tempt me!
I haven't gone since TO changed months. I don't think I can drink that much!

I went in 07. I pulled a trailer with a fake palm tree that had Christmas lights. The trailer was filled with ice and mai tais and a case of TK. 10,000 of us, or is it 2000? can't remember, are riding around the airport and a buddy asks what I have in the trailer. I say "mai tais and Tecate, grab one", we are still pedaling along Harbor. He pulls a fifth of Knob Creek out of his Chrome bag and hands it to me, still pedaling. I have to keep one hand on the handlebars 'cuz i'm pulling a trailer so, I pull the cork with my teeth and take a swig, seal it, hand it back. A few miles later 10 of us pull into a Navy bar to take a break. "HEY!! They have karaoke!!" So, we take cracks at it. 1/2hr break is over, we hop back on the bikes and head up Rosecrans.

2:00AM: "UH OH!! What the F?!?! My bike explodes just past MCRD. I have to bail. I roll down to Midway and have to call my wife. "Riiinng, riii, "Want me to pick you up?" is the answer on her end. :) I say "That would be awesome!" I hide the bike and trailer in some bushes and 20 minutes later I am home.

7:00AM I go back out to pick the bike and trailer up before a homeless guy scores it.

Another buddy (TALLL guy) rode a tandem by himself from the back seat. Another guy pulled a ten speaker sound system. An old '70s Kenwood system!!
And!! there was also a warm up/keg party earlier in the evening on Adams five miles away from the start where we actually rode from!

I just don't think I can pull T.O.10 & Midnight Madness off on the same weekend. That would require toooo much restraint.

This is one of the best events in San Diego!! The crowd is so thick 5-0 can't stop the..., well none of this ever happened. Really! :wink:

Too Bad its the same weekend as Tiki Oasis.
that sounds like a hoot.
and I would love to do it.
but I am not missing any of oasis or the after partys

Maybe we should plan another one, just TCers

Erik, sounds you already "represented" in style! I've never been to this event but figured it would be a blast. Sorry, I spaced on the date and forgot it was the weekend of TO. Check your PM's, bro.

Jeff, You're right - everyone's gonna be too partied out from TO and wouldn't want to miss out on that anyways. Unfortunately we are not making it to Oasis this year, but you guys have fun!!

I agree but on our own we'd all get busted for drinking in public or something. We need a crowd to blend in some...

Here's another awesome party ride if anyone wants to go for more miles (on a different weekend), the Rosarito Ensenada 50 Mile Fun Ride on September 26th. There's some crazy costumes and a general party atmosphere on this ride. And the fiesta at the end in Ensenada makes it all worth while.
