Weatherproofing Lahala

I know that this has been covered before but I could not find it anywhere.
I want to put lahala mat on the outside of a shed I built and I want to weather proof it. What does anyone recommend sealing it with? I was thinking a Polyurethane or a oil, it can darken a little.

That's a possibility, what about a oil?

you can mask it, But, you'll never weather proof it with topic oil s...

Unless you live in the jungle and not the valley....

BananaBob ..this will work for about a year or so and then you will have to re-apply.
You buy a weed sprayer that has a hand pump to build the pressure and fill it with
Thompson weather seal.Spray the lahala piece several times, then let competely dry
and then install .It worked for me ...give it a shot!

Thanks 1961, I figure that is the way I will go, I was going to try some thinned linseed oil in a corner to see if that will work, I'll let you know.

I was always stumped by this dilemma.
But when we stayed at the Half Moon inn.
There was the answer!!
Paint, Yeah I like the natural look too.
But we all know this stuff is turning grey from the day you put it up.
You may need to let the stuff sit outside to weather some before you paint it.
Bamboo has a natural wax coating to it, As does other natural mat type stuff.
