Twin Palms Hotel by the Bali Hai in SD...

I just stayed at the Best Western Twin Palms on Shelter Island in San Diego. The whole area is kinda 50's not to mention the Bali Hai restraunt is right down the street for dinner. Really cool Hotel and "somewhat" reasonable. The whole place has probably not changed since it was built in the 50's. Perfect for a weekend get away. Just take the 5 to Rosecrans to Shelter Island drive. Enjoy!

I'm glad you posted this. Shelley and I are staying there the night of "The Ultimate Tiki Party". Don Tiki is playing at Humphries Thursday July 17th. Sounds like a fun place. Cocktails at my place before Don Tiki.

I, too, recommend the Twin Palms.
Definitely a fun and appropriate place to stay for the Ultimate Tiki Party.

True to its name, the facade does feature a grove of palm trees and the interior lobby is exotic and tropical.

Twin Palms exemplifies the tropical, tiki feel of Shelter Island, along with Humphrey's Half Moon Inn and Mort's liquor store.

I am glad Twin Palms has stayed true to its tiki feel, unlike the Shelter Pointe Hotel where the renovation stripped it of any tiki mana, much less Tiki god satutes, regardless of the bland pineapple fountain outside.

It looks like a Taco Bell to me.

I just looked at a brochure I saved and it said the Island Palms. So if you're going to go there...it could be listed under that.
