The Forbidden Art of Finkdaddy (image heavy!)

Hey Folks, I just wanted to show some stuff I just finished up this weekend.
The starfish is paduak wood with shell inlays. The wood was pretty nice to carve and has a beautiful grain and a silky red/orange color.
The sign is basswood. I used 100% hand tools on it, no power at all.
The uke body is also pakuak wood, the fret board is purple heard, the bridge and nut are bone, the fret inlays are abolone shell, the tuning pegs are metal, and the strings are black thread. It was a blast to make!

Thanks for looking!

M

That is awesome! The Uke is brilliant.

Excellent work Finkster, Really Nice.

S

That uke is very impressive......you must be carving with a laser or something.

L

Great! The sign are great!
What the wood for the uke body? Pakuak wood? I have not found a source anywhere... And it strongly look like a piece that I work right now without knowing the name.

Thanks everyone!

No, I don't own a laser.

It's paduak wood. I bought a big chunk of it from a hardwood importer not too far from my house. The pictures above don't do it justice. It's much more red than you see and the grain is swirly and takes your breath away. It tends to be a little chippy though, so you have to be carefull.
