Any ideas where to find Doctor Funk brand Passion Fruit Nectar?

Pages: 1 5 replies

I'm visiting the bay area for Thanksgiving, so I stopped into Smuggler's Cove for a few drinks. I asked the bartender what they did for Passionfruit Syrup, saying that I generally used Goya pulp mixed with simple syrup. Turns out they use a brand of passionfruit nectar called "Doctor Funk's". They showed me the bag it came in and let me try it alone and, although it's hard to tell without a side by side test, that it was better than the mix I make.

I thought I'd be able to google up a source easily enough, but the similarity to the drink name, combined with funk bands, have stymied me.

Anyone have any idea where to find this stuff? Preferably online, but anywhere in the LA area would be great. I can do a drive!

I wish I had an answer, considering the fact that I'm always on the lookout for new brands of passion fruit juice/syrups/nectars/pulp. It sounds like it must taste good, but with Smuggler's Cove even having their own custom-blend rums, it wouldn't seem too far off that they could have a private supplier for their syrup. I hope somebody's got an answer!

I don't think Smuggler's Cove has a private supplier. They happily told me that I could get it at a local supermarket, but that was the only place they knew where to get it. Maybe I'll have to contact the supermarket. If I do, I'll let everyone here know too.

Something tells me that SC simply makes its own PF syrup and tosses red herrings for curious customers to chase.

I believe they use Funkin puree.

Available from restaurant/bar supply companies.

I use Auntie Lilikoi Passion Fruit Syrup from Kauai. She makes it herself and will send you 4 bottles in a flat rate box. And while you are on her site check out the Passion Fruit Juice.

Yes! That is exactly it. Obviously my mind was fuzzy from all the rum I had had that night. Smuggler's cove was the third bar I hit that night, so thanks for correcting me SuperEight!
