Aloha,
It's not a Tiki-Bar, but a Tikish livingroom and it is very comfortable there :)
It is the place where the family meets... including six cats.

here are some pictures:

Mahalo,
HT

Looks cozy, love it!

I love the blue-lit mugs cabinet.

CN

Very nice and I like that blue lit cabinet too. Are your cats hiding?

Thanks Folks :)

Are your cats hiding?

mice hunting, probably...

Wow, that's wall to wall tiki and then some!

Nice! Where did the big Tiki come from?

The big Tiki originally was at the sportswear dept. of a big store here in Switzerland, just for one season. I got it from a friend who works there.
It's not the real thing, it is made of fiberglass ! Unfortunately i have no idea who has produced it.

Mahalo,
HT

Tiki in der Schweiz! Gut gemacht. Love mug display as well. Looks like a fun place to hang out.

T

Great looking space. That's quite a record collection also.

And this is in Switzerland?? WOW!!

Very cool living-tiki-room! I love your collection of vinyl, tiki's and that surfboard there in the corner, does it have a shapers name?

What a great place to chillax and listen to great music..

Aloha Scott
Thanks...
the surfboard is a "tentoes surfboard" from the early sixties:

Mahalo,
Rene

Looks great!

Helve, I see so much unused space in your pad. :) Did you ever think of hanging a shelf from the underside of each step? Just make sure no one can kick anything of the shelf while they walk upstairs.

very cool room, bravo ! Makes me want to listen to surf music and have a mai tai !

Great vibe going on in that bar... I dig it! Looks like you have a good sense of style. Many times combinations don't work but yours do. I'm talking about the Roth/Tiki/Mexican Wrestler/Beatnik film thing you have going. Very cool and well incorporated.

Aloha Folks..
This is the new HelveTiki Room.
my little Tiki / Sailor / Adventurer Room.

it used to be my grandmother's flower store about 35years ago - and then my grandfather's and fathers tool grinder workshop.
After my father was retired I could rebuild / redecorate the space for me - The house in which it is located belongs already to me and my wife since a few years.

The biggest challenge was the cleaning,
sanding dust is extremely stubborn..!
I've freshly painted the room then.
the reed and the bamboo are from the hardware store.
Most of the Tiki and Ships Stuff in there I've collected over the years,
the carpets I bought in thrift stores.
The room is still not quite like I would like, I still need an old rum barrel and some big tikis :)
But am already very satisfied with it.

Here some Picture before:
(Unfortunately, there are no old photos from the flower store to compare)

and after:

hope you like it :)
mahalo and cheers from Switzerland.

Wow! You've really filled out the new space nicely! It looks like it's been a tiki lounge forever--and that's the look to aspire to, right? I have to confess that I have some serious envy for some of the equipment that used to reside in that room. What trouble I could get into with those tools...

Thanks,
yes right :)

well, most of tools we have sold.
some I can use in my workshop

yesterday I found this one in a thrift store,
fits perfectly in my room.
Does anyone know where it could originally come from ?

Nice Room! Mahalo for showing it!
