drying sable trunks

hay everyone, i'm new at carving tikis. i have a good supply of sable palms at my work. palm nursery in charlotte nc. i have about 6 12-15ft tall. need to know how to dry the trunks out and keep them from rotting after they are carved.

I'm sorry to chip in with a spurious reply but I first thought this thread was about drying swimming costumes made of fur...

I'm a palm fan too.
It's EZ on the tool & hands.
I like them still kinda wet & fresh.
They will start drying as you carve them.
When your done keep them inside & dry.
They will dry out, get light & last forever.
Put them outside they get wet & god takes them back.
