Tiki Apartment Revival, Nr. 2 step

Maybe some of you remember this thread from two years ago, from which this is 1 post:

This was the first APARTMENT building that was professionally renovated in nouveaux Tiki style, and I was very excited then. Well, this fine example did not exactly set off an avalanche of Tiki apartments as there was in the 1960s.

But I was thrilled to recently come upon one more case of Apartment Tikis, commissioned by the same guy who did the above Marina Palms, Peter Cate http://www.petercate.us/

...who hired Crazy Al to carve some Palm trees that had to go, in situ. When I ran into Al at the Pacific Islander Museum, he told me they were just down the street. I had missed the posts that Al had done about them in the Carving section here. I must say this was an inspiring sight, equal to my PIEAM visit! Here we have a proud bunch of contemporary Tiki art, Congrats Al, they deserve their own post!:

Because the light was just right, Al stopped by and photographed his babies himself. The view form the street:

Granted, not the whole apartment building was tikified here. Peter Cate doesn't seem to have had too many customers that wanted other than conformist safety for their rental properties. These four carvings was as much as the budget allowed.

But what a heartening sight to these towering Tikis, settled in very nice landscaping, adding a whole new dimension to the building. Maybe someone else will be inspired by these for their property - the sky is the limit!

Al has to provide the exact address, but for all you cultural heathens who have not been to the Pacific Islander Museum, now you have one more reason to go, to see these, they are really just a few blocks down the road!

Beautiful...love how those Tikis have a natural attitude.

Those lucky apartment dwellers have no idea how lucky they are having not 1, but 4 Crazy Al tikis in their front yard.

They are, of course museum quality carving, so typical of Crazy Al.

I'll have to post the address later, but basically the apartments are on 3rd St., just east of Orange(.5-1 block0 in Long Beach... not to far from the beach/water.

Awesome Al those Tikis rock.......I need to make a pillgrimage to them--Once it stops raining.....

Bitchin!!! Im going to ride my beach cruiser over and bear witness to these modern marvels and see them up close and personal. Do they have canister lights in the ground that shine on them at night?
