Wild Weekend 4

Pages: 1 5 replies

Hey folks, the Wild Weekend 4 now has tickets on sale. The usual great Tiki decor, vast numbers of bands including the Tiki Tiki Bamboos, plus it's based in Benidorm. The Spanish town where there are 2 Tiki bars and beer can be had for 50 cents a pint. (If you know where to look).

The only spanish the missus knows is " una ensalada con salsa queso, por favor" This is how she and her cousin communicated while there for the summer a couple of years ago.

Salad with cheese sauce???

No need to worry about having hot cheese sauce on your lettuce (blee - that sounds like some awful STD). Benidorm in Spain is so full of Brits that you don't have to speak a word of Spanish. (Though you should, of course) There are quite a few people coming over from the US, so if anyone wants a blast of a weekend, then a trip to Barcelona to pick up some amazing rare mugs, this could be the excuse you've been waiting for.

TC Gang,
I will back Woody 100% on this. Benidorm is the greatest place for the dull, (OK, maybe that was just me) English-speaking person to ease himself/herself into the Euro party scene. I was a fresh-faced Navy lieutenant (j.g.) in June 1989 when I made my debut in European society off of USS America in Benidorm. The Brits there were fabulous and my high-school and college Spanish worked fabulously well. Of course, my Spanish stunk, but the locals were very forgiving and had run across a few "Hab-low E-span-yoles" before. I had the time of my life thanks to the ex-pat Brits and the wonderful Spaniards.

Glad you had a great time out there JTD. Yep, Benidorm is a blast. It has an incredibly cheesy side to it, and is a million miles away from the real Spain. But, the people of all ages are so laid back and friendly that you quickly get into the spirit of the place and have a blast.

(Saying that, the Wild Weekend is the reason to go, right?) That and the two Tiki bars in Benidorm!
