I usually hang in the carving section but thought this area of artistry would fit these better.

This is a powdered glass frit that I added aloe vera to as a binding agent. It is like molding wet sand so detail is rough but I wanted a primitive, volcanic look to them.

This is what they look like after being fired in the kiln. I added magnets to the back and will bring them to Tiki Caliente 4 so that I have something I can (hopefully) sell for under 20 bucks.

Thanks for looking and be sure to say "Hi" if you are at the Palm Springs event in May.

I dig the very colorful shiny glazing on these. :)

Well, I thought I'd heard of everything but this art form is totally new. Very fun. You really have to find a way for them to be worn as necklaces. Maybe a thread loop held on by that clear goop that dries so well.

I'm looking forward to meeting you at Caliente. It's our first time for this event.
See ya, Wendy

Thanks for the comments guys, it's nice to get a response. Tigertail although I don't know much about glazes this is actually colored glass powder that you mix with a binder (in this case I just used aloe vera because it burns off cleanly and is readily available) to get a play-doh type clay. You can get any color you can imagine in opal or transparent and once formed you fire it in a kiln. I'm still experimenting trying to get temps and timing down. My first batch melted beyond recognition. Wendy you are right and my next ones will have room at the top to drill a hole for a necklace. Looking forward to meeting you at Tiki Caliente 4.
