Wonderful and informative site!

I particularly like the photographs of the Place of Refuge on the Big Island and the Hidden Treasures list.

The picture of the Orchid is a thing of beauty.

Thanks for sharing a true tiki site.
(hurry up with the tiki culture.)

Glad you liked the Site! Tiki Culture on it's Way!

Cool site, like the photos especially. I'd love to visit the Place Of Refuge sometime.. My only critique would be that the "drinks" section is very misguided. No self-resppecting tiki bar would serve some of those drinks (a Bahama Mama, a RASTAFARIAN???, or a Mudslide?); there has never been Rose's Lime Juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, or grenadine in a Mai Tai (Lord...Trader Vic would shutter...I won't even mention the Zombie or Suffering Bastard recipes!); a shaker, a jigger, a trusty bartowel, and an ice crusher are damned near all I ever use behind my bar (and a Juice-O-Matic); Creme De Menthe, Bailey's, and Tia Maria are wastes of money which I can't think of a classic tiki drink they are useful in, and without Orgeat and Passion Fruit Syrup, you hardly have a tiki bar. A good guide to the real thing is "Beachbum Berry's Grog Log", along with it's companion book "Intoxica", both by Jeff Berry. He put a ton of time and effort into authenticity for those books, and the drinks say it all!

Basement Kahuna...We appreciate your comments and certainly your insights into our Tiki Drink recipes, we will take your suggestions seriously...Mahalo for visiting the site!

(Mai Tai Recipe is changing as we speak!)

Still a very kewl site...

B

No offense, but isn't pretty much the entire contents of "Tiki Lounge" section cut and paste, word for word, from Adam Rocke's "Tiki Drinks"? Are you affiliated with him?

Badmojo-

No offense taken...Our inspiration for the Tiki Lounge did indeed come from Adam Rocke's 'Tiki Drinks' and it is our oversight not to have credited him. In light of this we are re-evaluating the entire tiki lounge page layout and content and will be sure to credit all contributors to the page, as required. It was never our intention to take credit from someone elses hard work and research. The Tiki Lounge will be temporarily closed while we re-evaluate...and return new and revamped!

Mahalo for bringing this to our attention!
