I recently came across this cool poster. The poster artist is Paul Colin, who lived in France from 1892 to 1985. Colin is most famous for his work with the Revue Negre, which helped launch the career of dancer Joesephine Baker - Colin and Baker were lovers. The Musée d'Ethnographie du Trocadéro was the first anthropological museum in Paris, founded in 1878 and closed in 1935. Many artists, most famously Picasso, visited this museum and were influenced by its 'primitive' art. Colin's posters are highly collectible. An original copy of this poster sold for $6000 at a recent Christie's Auction |
